Beware

Terrible (1.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 28, 2005

I stayed in a shared 3 bed room. There was a large bathroom down the hall. There is some sort of lounge on the main floor. The lobby looks very modern but the rooms upstairs remind one of a flophouse.

Unique Quality: While this "hostel" may seem like a good deal, and in a good location, I would not recommend it. Their advertising makes The Aladdin look a lot nicer then it really is. The condition of the place is deplorable. The shared bathrooms are filthy. The rooms are cramped and airless, with no screens on the windows. If you are travelling alone you don't know who you will have to share the room with. As a single woman I felt distinctly unsafe.

Handy for Midtown

by written on September 12, 2002

It's a handy place to stay. On 45th St between 8th and 9th, it's just off Times Square. There are hostel type rooms as well as single and doubles.

There's also a sign-up board in reception every now and then for spare seats in the various daytime chat shows filmed in NYC.

You can find this as on some of the listing websites for New York Hotels and this will give you a price reduction.

Unique Quality: Not much to recommend it visually but very handy location and a good opportunity to mix with travellers.
