Priceline Name Your Own Price: HELP!

by jamiewong

Hi guys,

I've used the Priceline Name Your Own Price to bid for a hotel room between Dec 26- Jan 1 2010. My bid was successful, USD100/night at Howard Johnson Brooklyn. The problem is my boyfriend booked accomodation at another hotel for the same time period. So we've discussed and decided to stay in the other hotel. Priceline has a non refundable, non cancellable policy so any idea how I can get around this problem and still get some money back?

Cheers,
Jamie

As I understand it, there is no way around it.

hmm is there any sites where people sell their vacation rental?

I think you are SOL unless you can manage to cancel at the hotel your boyfriend booked. Priceline's no refund policy is well communicated before you make your bid, so it is up to you to make sure that you're committed to the stay before bidding. Why did you do it if you already had another booking that you wanted to use?

There is no way out of a Priceline hotel or vacation, unfortunately. I've tried it. You cannot sell these either because the person on the reservation has to check in. I guess you could check in and then let the other people stay in the room, but I think that would constitute fraud, and the other people would be open to running up incidentals on your credit card.
If you can cancel the other hotel, that would be best.

The only positive advice I can give is that you and the BF should learn to talk to each other.

Travel Tips for New York City

New York Buskers

by lynnehamman

Buskers.New York has thousands. So have many cities in the world. But I enjoyed the ones we saw on every street corner and subway station in New York. These performers are good-especially the musicians. We saw one young girl playing the saxophone like a pro in a subway, and we ended up missing a couple of trains, caught up in the magic. We were mesmerised by her talent. It is a sad fact that many of these buskers are never given the opportunity to expand their talents. They do,however, seem to get much pleasure from their chosen occupation. And that is exactly what it is. They busk so that they can live, eat and sleep. They are not beggers. Treat them respectfully, please. Standing underneath the city, listening to a cool jazz saxophonist. Playing for her supper.

Broadway Play: Arthur Miller's After the fall

by Bavavia

I went to see this play on Sept 10 and was so pleased wigth this play...it was well worth the $ 103 seat price. I found the acting and thems to be incrediblly well done. The lead character, Quentin, was portrayed by Peter Krause who starts as Nate fisher on HBO drama :" six feet under". He was just incredib le in this role. It was fascinating to see how he was able to display so many emotions within moments of eachother. Love, fear, guilt, sadness, happiness, uncertainity....all as he portrayed the life events of this charactger Quentin. It was just so well done. The other actors were great as well. The character Maggie was excellently portrayed as well as well as the mother and father characters, and all oft the others. The play talks about the life of Quentin and events that affected is life, it discussed Macarthyism, holocaust, fear of commitment and his fear of failing, it was an excellent play, i would surely recommend it. Just walking around the neighborhoods, shopping, and finding very unique things that you cant find elswewhere......

Walk as much as your feet let you. Visit as many museums as you can, the best art works from all over the world are in the NY museums. Keep in mind that the majority of the museums need more than 6 hours just to see the basics. The Metropolitan takes more than 2 days!!! The 'Bar 87' bbq chicken wings and caipirina with candy bar!!!
