Pet Friendly Suites

The best quality of this hotel is that dogs (of all sizes) are permitted in this hotel. There are suites with kitchenettes so that if you want to keep a little milk and cereal or have a light snack any time, it's as easy and comfortable as if you were staying at a friend's home.

The down side is that the rooms are not as sparkling or clean as they might be. The furnishings are tired and perhaps some of the rooms that permit dogs are not cleaned as they should be. Bring your own anti-bacterial wipes if that is important to you.

If you'd like a nice dinner with pretty views of the river and skyline, you could also try the restaurant on the top floor, the Top of the Tower. The food is not spectacular, but the views really are.

Unique Quality: Dog-friendly hotels are hard to find, especially those that do not have size limitations. This one is very dog friendly.

Watch for deals and don't hesitate to try this one

I'll take a suite over a tiny little room anytime! We hit a $99/night weekend special for a 1 bedroom suite, and grabbed it. This hotel is an art deco masterpiece of a building. The staff was personable and helpful. The suite was spacious and comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay here.

Unique Quality: There's a gorgeous little restaurant/bar at the top with extraordinary views of the city. Off the lobby downstairs, the Zepher Cafe was a cute place for breakfast.

Great and near the UN...

All the rooms have a small kitchen and accomodations are enough. There's a great staff as well as a great cafe with good food.

More about Beekman Tower Suite Hotel

Stay in a hotel close to the UN

by bkathryn about Beekman Tower Hotel

I had a very nice room, complete with small kitchenette, which would have been useful if I was there for 2 weeks, which I was not. I had a great view of the "canyons" of New York City. The hotel has a lounge on the top floor (26?) and an exercise room. It's also convenient walking distance to the UN.

Rubbing shoulders with diplomats

by CliffClaven

No shortage of places to rest your head at the end of the day, or night. Old Cliffie's favourite is the Beekman Tower Hotel, close to the United Nations on First Avenue. It's a bit pricey, perhaps, but the comfortable studios and suites all have kitchen facilities, which means that three or four people can save an awful lot of money by stocking the fridge and eating breakfast and a few other meals in the suite, instead of dropping a hundred dollars on food and wine in a restaurant. View the magical midtown skyline from the Top of the Tower bar on the 26th floor. Rub shoulders with ambassadors and foreign ministers, especially when the UN General Assembly is in session between September and December.

beekman hotel is safe bet for any person visiting new york. the hotel is located on the corner of 1st and 49th. the real only downfall would be that the nearest train station is on lexington and 51st which is about 4 blocks away. there is a bus across the street on 49th number m27 or m50 that will take you crosstown which is really convenient. other than that, the hotel was nice. rooms are clean. service was great.

We 'Love' This Place!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I took our first NYC trip together in May 2004 to celebrate our anniversary, so expectations were high. It seemed we were playing "musical rooms" the first few days which put a damper on our plans, but were quickly accomodated by a very helpful staff. Our one bedroom suite was marvelous! Spacious, all amenities you could ask for, and a great view. The location was ideal, offering scenic walks and a quiet alternative to the more congested parts of Manhattan. One block west is Associated Supermarket which we found fulfilled our shopping needs. Can't forget the Zephyr Grill. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Staying at the Beekman only sweetened our memorial occasion. We hope to return to New York soon and stay here once again.

try the Beekman first

by A TripAdvisor Member

Any time I come to NYC the beekman is the first choice. The staff is very accomodating, the rooms are spacious. The location is perfect. There is no better place to unwind, it is like living in your own Ny apt. Cable, small kithen, clean, priced competitively, .the more great reviews , the harder it is to get a reservation or upgrade. The staff really aims to please and takes care of the guests.
bravo! I always try the Beekman first !

Great Hotel with fantastic service

by A TripAdvisor Member

Three mates and I stayed here over the weekend of 9/11 and found the hotel to be a very pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, tidy and spacious enough for all four of us to have separate beds with room to spare. One minor criticism is the lifts which do take a while to come when called, however it is my understanding that the hotel are installing new ones soon. The location is excellent with only a five-minute walk to midtown and the subway connections. There is a great supermarket opposite, which stocks most things you would ever need. I have stayed at many hotels now in New York and this hotel was the nicest I have stayed in yet. I would definitely use this hotel again and recommend it whole-heartedly to anyone thinking about taking a trip to New York!

Debating which hotel to stay at....

by prcoamo

It's between
The Kimberly Hotel
Shelburne Murrary Hotel
Beekman Tower Hotel (have a really good deal 1BR suite $109)

As you can tell these are suite hotels ( I need kitchenettes amenity traveling w/ 4 year old)

For the ones that you would stay at please state why? and vice versa for those you would not stay at.

Thank you so much.

Beekman Tower might be a good choice. It's just off First Ave. near the UN. You can travel by bus west on 42nd Street to Time Square. Or you can go north by bus to 86th, then transfer to a westbound bus to Fifth Ave to see the Metropolitan Museum at 92nd and 5th Ave. (Or stay on the bus to the "real New York" on the other side of Central Park at Broadway.
