Free Internet!

The Apple Store on 5th Avenue (located on the south-eastern side of Central Park near 58th Street), not only has many Apple techno-stuff to drool all over, but you can also surf the internet using one of their many computers and/or laptops all for free!
I accidently stumbled across this. I suppose it's a good way for Apple to show-off their stuff to potential customers.
Otherwise, I didn't find too many options in New York to surf the net. I found that Burger King burger places have internet facilities, and they charge about US$5.00 per 30 minutes.
Getting about

Generally speaking, It's pretty simple to get about Manhattan.
If you can count from 1 to 225 and learn 12 avenues with 5th Avenue being the East/West Divider . . . you've got it made.
Uptown and Downtown are just directions from whatever street you're on to whatever street you want to go.
The numbered streets are North to South
The Avenues are East to West. Voila!
Now the village and parts of lower Manhattan can be a bit of a puzzle in certain areas because the streets are named and not numbered. Just make the Avenues your point of reference and you'll find your way. Or hey, just ask someone. Most everyone loves to give directions to others.
Transportation is great all over, especially the Westside! Cabs, Subways and Buses are plentiful.
Walking is fun too. 20 or 30 blocks seems long, but in New York you'll be able to walk it in no time without noticing the distance. There's so many things to see you'll be at your destination quicker than you'd expect.
There are ATM banks all over the place and ATMs in a lot of Deli's and stores too.
Everything is at your fingertips in N.Y.C.

Visit the city and meet the wonderful people. I went many years ago and NYC did not have the greatest reputation for friendly people..........BUT MANY YEARS AGO...in my experience....THE PEOPLE were great!
Update: This was my old posting from and I recently went to NYC June 1, 2003. When I went there, the Statue of Liberty was getting a face lift, so we could not go.

There are so many places to see in New York State. I live in Long Island now, grew up in Syracuse and have been all through out the state. A few must places to see are: New York City, Lake Placid and the Finger Lakes.
As seen in New York City

The pictures on this tip are 3 funny things I found while walking around in The Big Apple.
Picture 1: is a bunch of t-shirts for sale in Little Italy. What caught my attention was "I can only please 1 person each day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either" but on closer inspection, I found more things that are funny:
- Good bush, bad Bush
- The devil: God is busy, may I help you?
- You have the right to remain stupid. Everything you say can and will be ignored."
Picture 2: these signs were found on 5th avenue, where you can't stop or park at any time. It looks to me that people didn't pay attention to the traditional "no parking" signs so they had to be creative...
Picture 3: anyone who speaks any of the Scandinavian language will get the joke here. Tutt(e) is a slang word for boob...
