Cheap but worth it.

My sister and I stayed here for the weekend of my 21st. We picked it because of the location and because it was dirt cheap! The rooms were small and you share the bathroom with everyone on the floor. The front desk staff were incredibly nice and helpful, giving directions and generally accomodating. Internet access in the lobby. The have a luggage room if you get there early/leave late.

Unique Quality: A block from Central Park! Walking distance to subway and a ton of great restaurants.

Looking for Cheap but nice in NEW YORK

by EdinburghRoc

COLUMBUS STUDIOS HOSTEL
106 WEST 83RD STREET
New York City, NY, United States 10024

The above hotel seems to be a good price,
own room but share bathroom.
Its only a place to sleep after all.
I can't find info if its okay: quiet ect.
Close to a subway close to Central Park.
Close to Riverside Park.

Me I'm a male on his own like taking photos happy walking
within reason.
Perhaps would buy a subway's pass
19 days to spend in New York
Having a job finding anything under
$3000 $4000.
£1178 / $2356
Is more than enough for just a bed
for the night.

Also best way to get to Boston train/bus
where to catch either would be good to know.
Buy a ticket when I'm there or inadvance?

Thank you everyone in advance.
Coming in September.
To see the sights.

For bus travel between NYC and Boston, a good option is the Chinatown buses, brings you from NYC Chinatown to Boston's South Station Bus Terminal (a short walk from Boston Chinatown).

Two bus companies, same price - $15 each way.

www.LuckyStarBus.com

Approx. 4 hours between both cities, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

No need to purchase tickets in advance. Just turn up and you're quite likely to get a seat.

REad the reviews and you might want to think about changing to another place.

Make sure to read reports on this site and on tripadvisor before you book anywhere else.
Plenty of places offer good rates but you also want to make sure the place is decent.

We have stayed in 'Second Home on Second Avenue' which was a room with shared facilities (although never saw anyone as we were hardly there ourselves) this was a nice place perfect for somewhere to sleep - that was a in 2000 so check it out, also a couple of years back we stayed in 'The Herald Square Hotel' which was nice - just a basic room with own facilities but very central, again this was reasonably priced but check it out as it has a website.
You will have a great time NYC is brilliant!!!
