Inexpensive, clean, friendly, ideal location, safe. Those are just a few things to discribe this hotel. It's the Comfort Inn in Flushing, Queens, NYC. If you're not looking to stay in Manhattan, stay here. It's five minutes from La Guardia Intl. It's a short walk to a subway station (the F train) and most rides are express trains to Grand Central (which is a great starting point for the city of NY). I arrived at this hotel very early (around 9am) and check-in is at 3pm, but the lobby clerk was so nice he let me check into our room and take a nap before a day of exploring. Flushing is full of Asian culture and within walking distance of the hotel are plenty of great places to eat authentic food. There was free breakfast in the morning, which was great. If you have the time and it's a clear night, take the stairs up to the roof (which was always open) and check out the amazing few of the skyline and the lights of La Guardia, it's beautiful. To sum this hotel up, it's not The Plaza, but for you're going on a budget, this hotel is the best for a good NYC experience.
Unique Quality: Clean, friendly, ideal location, safe, very inexpensive, amazing view of the skyline, close to subway, close to La Guardia, great food closeby, and free breakfast.
Directions: Right off Flushing Ave, 5 minutes from La Guardia.
Anyone who says that this hotel is 'just around the corner from Macy's' is actually telling the truth. When you come out of the hotel and turn left, Macy's is literally down the road (not very far at all!) The hotel itself was friendly and made for a comfortable stay. Food was good, staff were friendly and it was within walking distance to many of the shops (especially Macy's). It is not very far from Empire State building either.
Over night connection issues forced a stay near the airport. Tried Marriott, but they were full. Noticed a shuttle for the Comfort Inn and asked it there were any openings. A quick radio call confirmed space so off we went.
While the linen was clean, the walls had enough mold on them to have been cheese and the wall paper was litterly hanging off the walls.
One night was more than enough. The price should have been more of a warning.
Directions: Just outside of JFK
