This hotel was on our short list and when checking the address on Expedia, I noticed Expedia had a sale on and the hotel was 40% off. That decided things. We booked a King room for just over $200 but paid a little more for Free Cancellation. It was prepaid but worth a little more just in case anything happened. It didn't but that's what that sort of insurance is for.

The hotel has 36 floors with only 6 rooms on each floor. We were on the 19th floor facing the back so it was quiet and our neighbours were quiet as well. There are two elevators so it can be a bit of a wait at busy breakfast times. The room was an adequate size, always spotlessly clean. The free wifi was a bit slow but we could also use the network cable for the laptop which worked great. There was a large safe in the wardrobe. I was quite pleased about that because the website didn't really say if there was a safe or not. The bathroom was average size, with a small shelf to put things on. Air conditioning worked well. Free lemonade and coffee in the lobby in the daytime. Concierge desk and two computers in the lobby as well. Free wifi through the hotel and free high speed connections via network cable. The staff was very nice and helpful.

The hotel is in a very good location, a few blocks from Times Square, a few blocks from the theatre district, not far from Cheslea, you could walk if you wanted. Port Authority two blocks away with the subway station there as well as the airport bus stops.

Negative things:
The wifi, as I said, was a bit slow for us but the hotel was full so perhaps it was just a bit overloaded.
The bathtub was a little slippery.
The breakfast room was woefully inadequate for the number of guests. The food was nothing special. The coffee was terrible. It was most definitely environmentally unfriendly with all styrofoam or plastic dishes and cutlery.
The tv remote control didn't work. Probably just needed batteries. We kept forgetting to ask for them and just used the controls on the tv.
Coffee maker and supplies provided but no UHT milk, just powdered creamer which is absolutely awful in tea. No fridge in the room to keep your own milk and drinks in.
No fitness facilities

Even though the list of negative things seems long, most of them were not that big a deal. We ate breakfast out most days even though the breakfast in the hotel was free. It was too stressful with the crowds, noise and unappealing food. The price was very good for such an expensive city and that, and the location, outranked anything else. Might stay here again, or might book the Candlewood Suites next door which is the same hotel company. There's a Comfort Inn along the same street as well.

Unique Quality: Free wifi, laptop compatible safe.

Directions: From Port Authority, two blocks south.

I liked this hotel and would go back.

I went in January so the price was very reasonable. I stayed 3 nights. Thurs and Friday were only 99 dollars and Sat was 179 dollars. And these were fully refundable rates so non'refundable was slighly cheaper. The room had 2 double beds so perfect for us 4
It was a small room but about average size for NYC standards. The staff was friendly and they gave me a gift for being a priority club member. Wi'fi worked great in room and the lobby had a business center. Both elevators were working and and although we waited a little it was not really that bad and we were on the top floor...The 32nd I believe.
It was a tall and narrow building.....6 rooms per floor
The breakfast was very good and they kept it full at all times and GM was even helping by cleaning tables. My only recommendation would be maybee rotate bacon for sausage some days but really no complaints for this hotel.
I liked the fact that they had coffee in the lobby at all times. If you did not feel like making it in your room you could go get some there, put a lid on it and hit the streets.
The location was great. It is not in the heart of times square but like a 10 min walk to it but very doable. In fact we ordered NY PASSES and they had to be picked up at planet hollywood in times square and I walked there alone while my family was showering and back in 20 minutes.
When you check out they can hold your bags for the day and they give u a claim ticket so you can explore the city and leave on a later flight. I was happy they did this for everyone and for no charge.
1 block from port authority bus terminal subway staion where you can get the E train. Tuns more trains at times square.
There were a lot of restraunts right on 9th ave including pizza white castle and lots more.

I got cash back by going to ebates and clicking through there. I got like 30 dollars cash back to boot cant beat that. If you want to join ebates for cash back email me at micedp @ yahoo.com REMOVE SPACES. I will tell you how to book and get cash back. Also how to get enough priority club bonus points for 2 FREE nights as well. If you have other questions about the area and to join ebates just email me and put in the header HOLLIDAY INN NYC.

If you don't mind the price, this hotel places you right near all the action in Times Square! As an established chain hotel, it is not one of those hole-in-the-wall hotels you find scattered throughout Manhattan.

The rooms have internet access, television, bathrooms, and air conditioning. They're also fairly spacious. The beds are really comfortable, too, which I always appreciate!
