A Note from The Melrose Hotel, NYC
It saddens me to inform you that the Melrose Hotel, New York, will close on July 1, 2005. The owners have decided to convert the Hotel in to condominiums. We will continue to operate as a hotel until June 30, 2005.

I will remain with the hotel through the closing and will dedicate my time to servicing our guests. We will provide the highest levels of service throughout the next three months. Please feel free to contact me you need anything in the interim.

Thank you for all of your support.

Best regards,

Sales Manager

Unique Quality: ORIGINAL COMMENTS: This three star hotel has been remodeled since I stayed there when it was the Barbizon. That was at least 15 years ago. My very tiny room, now called a "petite", is listed on one internet site for $209.00. By the pictures on the hotel website, it appears to be a very lovely hotel and at an excellent price for this neighborhood.

Although, I haven't seen any of the rooms since the hotel was remodeled, I have been in the bar and restaurant to the right of the lobby many times. The lobby is very pretty and the restaurant/bar is quite nice.

The location of the hotel, on the corner of Lexington and 63rd, is excellent. You are well out of the crowded and not so glamourous tourist area, but within walking distance of Central Park, Bloomingdales, Madison and Fifth Avenues, and many museums and art galleries. Other neat places near the hotel are Dylan's Candy Store and Serendipity where scenes from the movie of the same name were filmed.

The petite is only big enough to sleep one person comfortably.

Subway stops are the F right across the street and the R and the 6 train at Bloomingdales. There is a bus on Lexington which goes downtown.

Directions: Upper East Side near Bloomingdale
