| | | | |
My husband and I planned a "Christmas in NYC" week as a relaxing get-away and this hotel couldn't have been a better choice! You're not going to find a convenient hotel in New York City for under $500 a night, and this was no exception. From the hotel we could walk to Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, shopping on 5th Avenue, Ice Skating and dinner under the stars in Bryant Park. You are less than a block from Times Square. We walked to the theater. Within a block you can dine on BBQ, Italian, Mexican, French, go to an Irish Pub or have some New York Cheese Cake. The subway is nearby to head for the Financial District and shopping at Century 21. And if you want a taxi, you can hail one yourself or slip the doorman a tip for the convenience of his assistance.
Think old-time New York. Lots of black marble in the lobby. The room with one king-sized bed was clean and classy with a mix of asian and art nouveau. The room was large enough to be comfortable and I liked the fact that I could open a window for fresh air. We had a room on the 46th floor and could look out and see Times Square and even as far as the river. The bathroom had a black marble vanity, pretty fixtures and was clean with fluffy white towels and nice toiletries. We never really needed any hotel services, but the check-in/out staff were very nice. We also never ate in the hotel bar/cafe so I can't comment on that. There is a concierge there to help you with tourist questions and there is a ticket broker to help you purchase theatre tickets. Just be aware that you pay quite a bit for the convenience of not going to the theatre and waiting in line to purchase tickets yourself or thinking ahead and purchasing through Ticketmaster. | | | | Millennium Broadway New York: Great NYC hotel in an excellent, central location
| | | | |
I was extremely excited to stay at the Millennium Broadway Hotel! I figured that since ABC's "Good Morning America" show puts their guests in this hotel since it's close to their studio so it has to be a pretty decent place! The hotel lobby was very nice decorated in black marble. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and friendly as well. The hotel has entrances on 44th and 45th streets, which was very convenient too. I was very pleased by the room size, which was fairly big considering the small closet-sized hotel rooms you find in NYC. The room was very clean. Our king bed was surprisingly comfortable. I usually don't sleep well in hotels but I must say I slept extremely well at this one! However, the bathroom felt a bit old. There were reminents of non-slip stickies on the bottom of the tub and the floor felt a bit sticky. The bathroom size was a little crammed too. You had to close the door to use the toliet or shower because the door swung into them. Beware of the mini-bar fridge! Don't mess with it unless you're actually planning to buy from it. It has sensors that know when things are removed and it automatically charges your room. My husband pulled out a drink in order to put our own bottled water inside. We were charged for removing the drink but were able to have the charge removed with a quick call to the front desk. When we explained what happened, they were nice enough to offer us a separate mini-fridge at no additional charge! That was very nice of them! The location of this hotel is spectacular! It's a block from the famous Times Square intersection 7th and Broadway and a couple of blocks from the 42nd Street subway station, which pretty much connects you to all the major subway lines. It's also close to Theatre District, perfect for me since I saw 2 Broadway musicals during my trip! Though some people might not want to stay in Times Square because it's so "touristy", I loved it! We got to walk through Times Square every evening and see the famous lights! Also, we felt extremely safe because Times Square is always bustling with people! The hotel is also very close to many mom & pop cafes which serve up some mean breakfasts and lunches for around $7. Overall, I would definitely stay in this hotel again and would recommend it to others!
