    Great location, excellent service

    by

Spend a great weekend here. Very luxurious and excellent service. Rooms are small but that is the norm in NYC. Great location just blocks from Times Square but not in the middle of all the noise and craziness. Would stay here again in an instant.

Unique Quality: great views, super comfortable beds

    Very very quiet, comfortable, spacious

    by

I stayed at the Sofitel Hotel on 7/15/05. It is located near times square, but far enough so that you do not hear any of the noise from time square..its about a 5 minute walk to Times Square. The hotel is very nice.. I asked for a quiet room and they put me in a room far away from the elevator and icemachines... I didnt hear a thing. I didnt hear anyone next to me , above me, nothing except in the morning when people started their showers, i could hear that a little, but that is hard to prevent, most hotels you do hear that.. But it was not that bad, very slight. THe bathroom was a nice large marble bath with plush robes..they have turn down service too. It was a nice stay because it was comfy ( bed really comfy), spacious, great location and not that bad as far as price ( $ 265 a night with all taxes)..its hard to get anything in NY under $ 225 that is decent, so you will always end up spending at least that. I recommend this hotel and will stay again!

Unique Quality: Large rooms, comfortable bed, very very clean.

Directions: 5 minutes from times square

    CHEAP or EXPENSIVE HOTEL ?

    by

SOFITEL or NOVOTEL are good, if you need a French touch...but the services are not very good. The fast internet line is good, but you need your computer.

NOTE: in Manhattan , most hotels are expensive between 100 and 300 USD - but during some periods it is good

generally, it is better to stay at New Jersey or Brooklyn and take the subway - 30-45 minutes

you may check also some B and B or www.hoteldiscount.com
    $100-$300 USD

    SEE www.hoteldiscount.com

Unique Quality: ANOTHER CHEAP HOTEL IN MANHATTAN

This is a good place near Central Park, with a kitchen if you want to cook. it was safe and close to the subway.

Loved the Sofitel

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Sofitel is in a great location - close to everything. The room was lovely and an even nicer bathroom with lots of amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful and answered all our questions about sightseeing options. Would definitely stay there again!

Great NY City Hotel

by oceanmmi about Weekend in NYC

My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in midtown Manhattan. It is close to Times Square and the theater district. It is very nice and has great restaurants. They are also helpful in getting you tickets to Broadway shows. We had a great weekend at this hotel. They are on 45 West 44th St. Their # is (+1) 212-354-8844. Great location, clean and friendly accomadations!

Sofitel was great

Wonderful room, new, comfortable and a nice size for two. The marble bathroom and amenities were first class. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Surpassed expectations

More than just a place to sleep the Sofitel New York was a highlight of our stay. Clean, comfortable, bathrooms to die for (candles, fluffy robes, fresh flowers, separate glass shower, sparkling marble floors).
Manager made a special effort to speak to me and ask about our stay - staff was trully wonderful. Next trip to New York we will stay here again. We were so impressed with the Sofitel New York, we will also be staying at the Sofitel in Chicago next month.

very elegant

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Sofitel is a well located oasis. It is a short walk to Time Square, 5th Ave, Rockefeller Center etc.). The style is elegant. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel and have already booked my stay at the LA Sofitel.

First Class

by A TripAdvisor Member

I was in NYC on business and enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel immensely.
The high speed internet and large comfortable room made my business a pleasure. One small criticism, a number of the apples in the fitness center were bruised. I had to pick carefully, but I survived. Alas!

Sofitel, Hotel Giraffe or W at the Court?

by Stina08

Please, could someone help me out? I'm planning a trip to NY in the end of March with my boyfriend to celebrate our 5 years anniversery. I've been reading all the reviews on Tripadvisor and other websites and I came up with the Sofitel, Hotel Giraffe and the W at the Court. But now I just can't decide which hotel to choose. Can anyone help me out?

Thank you,
Kristina

The sofitel is lovely and I have heard great things about the W, but have never stayed there.

I recently stayed at the Hilton Times Square and the views and rooms were lovely, not to confuse you...but it was a nice option, romantic b/c of the view and a fantastic location.

Good luck!

The W is a little hipper chain, they've usually got worth while bars ,etc.
Sofitel is super central in the theater district, but a bit generic I'd say.
Giraffe is quite a bit more exclusive, as is the 30th st location. It's a really nice spot, maybe would be my choice of the 3 in your situation.
