    SOFITEL or NOVOTEL are good, if you need a French touch...but the services are not very good. The fast internet line is good, but you need your computer.

    NOTE: in Manhattan , most hotels are expensive between 100 and 300 USD - but during some periods it is good

    generally, it is better to stay at New Jersey or Brooklyn and take the subway - 30-45 minutes

    ANOTHER CHEAP HOTEL IN MANHATTAN

    This is a good place near Central Park, with a kitchen if you want to cook. it was safe and close to the subway.

    By Subway
    Take the B or C train to 103rd street then walk up the hill to the corner.

    One block from Central Park West on 103rd Street, is the Central Park Hostel. Down the street from the B&C trains, CPH is a convenient train ride away from Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Port Authority (bus station), Penn Station (train station), Chelsea, Greenwich Village, SoHo, and more.

    From Port Authority (Bus Station) or Penn Station Amtrak):
    Take the B or C train as described above.
     
    SuperShuttle will take you directly to the hostel from the airports and back. The Olympia airport shuttle costs $11.00 and goes between all aiports and the Port Authority, Penn Station and Grand Central every 20 minutes. From JFK Airport, you can take the A train to 59th street and transfer for the B or C to 103rd Street.

    From Grand Central
    Take the S train and change to the C uptown to 103rd Street.


    There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area or take the train a few stops downtown to the trendiest part of the Upper West Side.

    • Wonderfull.

    This hotel is central, beautifully decorated and the staff who work there, friendly and helpfull at all times.

    Our room was also lovely.

    The lifts to the floors, are stunning inside.

    I stayed at the Sofitel Hotel on 7/15/05. It is located near times square, but far enough so that you do not hear any of the noise from time square..its about a 5 minute walk to Times Square. The hotel is very nice.. I asked for a quiet room and they put me in a room far away from the elevator and icemachines... I didnt hear a thing. I didnt hear anyone next to me , above me, nothing except in the morning when people started their showers, i could hear that a little, but that is hard to prevent, most hotels you do hear that.. But it was not that bad, very slight. THe bathroom was a nice large marble bath with plush robes..they have turn down service too. It was a nice stay because it was comfy ( bed really comfy), spacious, great location and not that bad as far as price ( $ 265 a night with all taxes)..its hard to get anything in NY under $ 225 that is decent, so you will always end up spending at least that. I recommend this hotel and will stay again!

    Large rooms, comfortable bed, very very clean.
