Hostel in NY ! which one is the best ???????????????

Hi,

I am planning to visit NY for a week (before or after the marathon).

As I am travelling on a limited budget, I plan to stay in a hostel but it's hard to choose one as I do not know NY at all.

Pls help me in choosing the best one.

My shortlist is :

Vanderbilt YH
Central Park YH
Big Apple
Hosteling Intl NY
Wanderes West inn.

Go to the advanced search (upper left), type in hostels nyc, and you will see there are two discussions at the top of the search. Try it! ;o)

Hi!

I do not recommend to stay in a youth hostel. There not that cheap, try BB or Backpackers.
If seen Wanderes West once, doesn't look too bad....

Hostels are'nt so bad here.

Wanderers Inn West is supposedly very nice,but it is in a bad neighbourhood that is plainly dangerous after dark.

Big Apple is cool....plus the extremely central location.

Hosteling International is a nice spot...but check with them to see there rules and such....Many HI hostels I've stayed in overseas have curfews and "strange" rules.

Also check into "Jazz on the Park" hostel...that's suppose to be really nice.

I have booked Big Apple from 29/10 till 07/10
I believe I was luck to get a bed as most of hostels seem to be pretty busy.
