Just one night, a friday....wanted to spend a night in the village... Very nice stay, quiet, very very clean, comfortable, spacious hotel. I paid $ 239 ( with taxes). I thought that was pretty good, but people told me that august is slow time in manhattan generally and that i could have done better..well, normally it seems hotels are around $ 400 or so for a decent place, so i thought this, for me, was a pretty good deal
Unique Quality: Boutique feel to this hotel. not sure its a "Boutique" hotel, but it feels like one. Lovely area, walk out and you are at washington square....... quiet, nice, near subways.
I put some overflow friends here once and they were very happy.
Unique Quality: An upfront warning: these rooms are exceptionally tiny, but you may be willing to deal with that given the relatively low prices compared to the rest of NY! Better yet, the location is excellent! Just don't go here if you are used to or expecting an upscale hotel. The normal rate for a nice hotel in NY can easily top $300 and up, so this is very much on the lower end.
Housed in an historic building on the edge of Washington Square Park in New York's Greenwich Village, this hotel has been beautifully renovated. It's cool hand-painted tiles on the walls give it a 1940's movie star glamour. The rooms are small but very elegant. Everything you need is there and perfectly accessible. The staff are nice and very helpful.
The bar is cozy-chic and the restaurant's cuisine is excellent.
Stayed here for 5 days in December. excellent location in Greenwich Village - great for eating and drinking. Very studenty location which felt safe at night. Room was quite small but very comfortable and warm. Staff friendly. Breakfast in hotel restaurant and the bar were excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
Unique Quality: The bar attracted a great 'arty' crowd at night,
great views of skyline from higher rooms
great location.
Stayed in March 2001 when some building work was going on. The room was small and the view out of our window was some sort of dark shaft. Went as part of a cheap package so I have no idea of room rates but breakfast was thrown in. Though not central it was easy to get the subway. Close by to a park to sit and people watch. There is a couple of cinemas within walking distance to catch a movie before it is shown in the UK.
This price is about 2 years old, but it was about £100 per night (with breakfast) as stated above.
Unique Quality: While I would not say that this hotel is outstanding value (about £100 a night) we certainly had a very pleasant stay there, and the bagel and OJ breakfast is very welcome each morning.
142.00 USD/night
Unique Quality: Small yet clean and comfortable rooms/No-frills

I don't have any favourite accomodation in New York, because every hotel if it's a 5 star or just a normal 1 star hotel, it is expensive. Sure it is better to stay in a hotel. I stayed in the Washington Square Hotel and it was really good. It was directly on the Washington Square Park and in the near of the N.Y. University. Very central. I think.
I stayed at the Washington Square Hotel for 11 nights over New Year with 4 friends and we thought it was perfect. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble.
We had a free breakfast included and although they don't start serving until after 7:30 this wasn't a problem for us at all!
It is well situated with cafe's, pubs, restaurants, shops and subway stations all within walking distance.
All in all, I would definitely stay here again!
Has anyone stayed at the Washington Square Hotel? I have heard good and bad reports and would like to get advice from someone who has been there?
Many thanks with any help

Q: JFK to Morningside Heights "I am arriving at JFK on July 1st (a sunday) around 11 am. Since I'll be alone and with a fair amount of luggage, I was thinking..."
A: "That's the price I paid on my last trip to NYC. Sunday's are usually lighter, but you never can count on a quick trip from JFK to down town."
