Visiting without Canadian Visa

by renemontalbo

Ill be visiting Niagara Falls without a Canadian Visa (I have a Philippine passport), would it be worth my while? we plan to drive from Chicago and stay overnight before proceeding to New York City. Any suggestions how long I need to stay there if i can only be on the US side?

Niagara Falls is specatacular from the Canadian side

but I have seen BOTH sides and I thoroughly enjoyed the American side as well. Many visitors overlook the wonderful park on the US side, you can still see a lot of the falls, you can still take a boat-ride in the 2nd most important attraction "Maid of The Mist" which takes you into the falls.

One caveat, the last day for "Maid of the Mist" ride is generally Oct 30 ? (not sure), so please check before you go the following site has all the information you will need:

One FULL day is adequate if you are visting only the US side and only going for Niagara Falls.

It is certainly worth going out of your way to see it and even just from the US side both American and Canadian falls are spectacular. For me an hour or so for viewing would be enough, unless you also plan to ride the Maid of the Mist or go behind the falls.

I would highly recommend getting a visa and seeing the falls from the Canadian side. The postcard pictures that you see are taken from the Canadian side - there is a reason for that - a far better view. Look at the total cost of your trip and see if getting a visa is worth it to you. You've come so far and have gotten so close...

A couple of other things to consider. The falls are great to see any time. They are illuminated at night, and if you can poke down to see them then, it gives a totally different impression.

I don't know at what time of year you are planning to visit, but if by any chance it is in the winter, the falls look totally different then, as does the surrounding area. If you get lucky in January or February and visit early in the morning on one of those bright, cold sunny days and the trees are coated with ice from the mist and the sun reflects off the ice. Just a wonderful setting and a great photo opportunity.

Maid of the Mist - worth a trip once (and yes the boats start coming out of the water soon).

i have always been visitor from Canadian side, but this summer i visited Niagara Falls State Park, NY (Goat Island) with my family and had an awesome 1 day trip. imho, the experience from the US side is very personal as you can see the American Falls and the rapids real closely. you will enjoy it.

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

Duty Free on USA side

by tpangelinan

Check out the Duty Free store on the USA side of Rainbow Bridge, the prices are good and plenty of gift, shirts, smokes,& liquour to choose from. We found some very nice t-shirts to bring back for the family at a good price, had a hard time finding any at other souvenir shops worth picking up. I also got a few bottles of Ice Wine for Terry & a botlle of good Cognac for me at great prices. You must keep in mind that if you buy at the Duty Free they will ask you a few questions and one is that you must stay over night in Canada to get these good prices ir you may be taxed, this worried us because we were staying on the USA side and had NO plans of staying over night in Canada. So we drove over had breakfast in Canada and came right back and worried the whole time but al they asked was did we have any thing to declare: answer yes 2 bottles of wine, they said OK move along and didn't even check. So just be careful and don't look guilty.

I have been to Niagara Falls...

I have been to Niagara Falls in the winter, but as you know, it's not very interesting to see the falls when the falls it's froze, but I went in Niagara Falls in January because I had a dance competition there, so. The Falls in Niagara Falls is the most attractions there. It's very beautiful to see this big monster with a lot of water.

Here is the rainbow from up at the top of the falls. The Maid of the Mist is a boat ride you can take to get an up close look at the falls. There are tunnels that go behind the falls and open up looking right out to the back of the water falls. The sound is like a frieght train roaring by.

Whether you view the Falls...

by spartan

Whether you view the Falls from the American side or the Canadian side, it's mesmerizing -- for a while. Couples who want to do it all can arrange an American destination wedding or Canadian weddingmoon with a choice of dramatic backdrop.

My sport of choice is Blackjack

by windoweb

The Object
In the game of Blackjack, each player’s wager is a bet against the dealer’s hand. The object of this card game is to have the total point value of the cards dealt to you exceed the point value of the dealer’s hand without going over 21. If you draw cards that total more than 21, your hand breaks and you lose. Bring cash!
