Contact the Canadian visa offices in Buffalo or New York.

Hi - if you're close enough go to the Canadian Consulate in New York City. Check their website for the papers you need and to get the application. (http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/new_york/menu-en.asp) My husband (Indian) did his there and he submitted the papers in the morning and had his visa a few hours later. Happy Travels!

Go to the Canadian side, and see the Horseshoe Falls. The Canadian side is just a better all-around tourism experience. Be sure to visit the Skylon Tower. It offers a fabulous view of the falls, although it's a bit pricey for what amounts to an elevator ride to the top of a building. The beauty of Niagara Falls can be enjoyed for FREE. We spent quite a bit of time just walking along and enjoying the view. Even our dog could be included. (See photo)

Some interesting facts:

Did you know that...

This was the first location in the world that used long distance electricity or AC current? (Telsa)

The US side was completely dammed up in 1969 in order to clean up and do research?

That late at night they divert millions of cubic tons of water away from the falls and the falls slow down 'to a trickle'.

Even during the day, some of the dams are closed upstream, so what you are seeing is acually not what nature intended.

Were they to 'let lose' all the power of the water, it would errode the falls and eventually ruin them and would destroy many docks and buildings that have been built in recent years...

You learn an new thing everyday!

Enjoy!

Picture is Areocar Rescue car. It can only take 2 people, I think plus operator at a time. It runs on own small motor and is slow. All Operators are trained on rescure. The Areocar has been running for 85 years with no problems.

Sunny days

by tpangelinan

Make sure to bring sun block is does get to be very sunny up there and rather hot. We got burnt a few time and didn't even feel it until we got back to the room and in the shower and man do you notice it then! So lather up before you hit the trail for a long day, maybe even a hat would not be a bad idea too.

As I said earlier the best view is from the Canadian side in Niagara Falls Ontario. In general Ontario is quite British in ambiance and like the Brits there is a horticultural emphasis on well planned/well manicured gardens like the one in this picture.
