Travelling from US to Canada

by haas16

I am travelling from the US side and would like to go to the Canada side of Niagara Falls. What documents would I need to get to Canada? I don't have a passport right now, so is there another document I can use?

For important question like this, instead of asking here, visit the US State Department and read the information there. If you don't have the right documents, you can very well have a pain-in-the-butt experience trying to re-enter.

Hi - it depends on your nationality. You may also need a visa. Check the Canadian Consulate's website of the country of your nationality. Happy Travels!

I believe you do need a passport to gain re-entry into the U.S.A., that is, if you are planning to ...

http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/whti-ivho/menu-eng.html .... see the bottom of the page re. the modes of entry into Canada and border requirements for both countries.

You don't say where you are a citizen?? If you are US Citizen you need a photo ID like a drivers license and a second form like a birth certificate until 2009 when you will need passport. Why do people keep their home state a big secret?

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

Walk! Start with Goat Island...

by Randall_Burt

Walk! Start with Goat Island on the USA side. Walk around Goat Island. It has the American Falls on one side and the Canadian Falls on the other side. I have a fear that I am going to Fall over the Falls. I think everyone has this fear. The only one I don't think has this fear are the Seaquals.

Check out the Visitors Center at the park

by tpangelinan

This is really the only TRUE visitors center on the NY side, it is located in the park. I say the only true visitor center because most of the souvenir store try to call them selves a visitor center but it's a trap to get you in to buy their goods. To us a visitor center has INFORMATION not souvenirs, just a heads up! You will find a lot of good info about the falls here, tours and things to do.

Niagara Falls Tip

by Michael_D

The area above these gardens are peppered with quaint shops displaying everything from tourist trinkets to traditional Canadian handicrafts and products. My 1st encounter with home-made fudge was here..you know...the kind they make on a marble slab in front of us drooling tourists.;-)

If you ride the boat, expect to get wet!!!

by high_d

If you're planning to ride the Maid of the Mist, make sure you're wearing something you wouldn't mind getting wet in;) Although you will be provided a free poncho. I remember I also wore water sandals. It's no fun walking around in wet socks/sneakers.

Old Fort Niagara

by Dalifriend

Located about 30 minutes from the Falls in Youngstown New York, you will find this historical landmark. Be prepared to spend a good 3 hours here, if not more. This place is just THAT interesting! There is plenty to see and photograph at this well-preserved fort.
