darian lake theme park

by AngiBabe

On our way back to New York from Niagara we want to stop at darian lake theme park and stay at the hotel there but as we are going early June we have been told that there may be some attractions still closed. Has anyone been there that could tell me if its worth a visit, all the family love theme parks!
Also is there anything else around to do in the evening when the park is closed.
Lastly what is the weather like in New York and Niagara end of May beginning of June?
Thanks

My family and I stopped here on our way back from Niagara falls a couple of years ago. We camped at the campground instead of staying in the hotel and had a blast. It was very relaxing. We stayed in August, so all the rides were open. I think the park is worth going to. Although it isn't a six flags anymore, it still has all the same rides. When we went, there weren't really any lines and we went on everything multiple times. The longest we waited for superman ride of steel was 20 minutes! The waterpark is also fun! It's nice to be able to come and go from the park as you please and the price of admission into the park is included in your stay. At night after the park closes they have a laser show that is definately worth going to! They also have a concert venue in the park, and some nights throughout the year they have concerts you can attend. I loved the park and am looking forward to going back soon!

Thanks for the reply, we have booked to stay at the hotel for the night and are really looking forward to it. We have been looking at some photos and reviews and it looks like a fun place to go.

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

When you go to Niagara Falls...

by Paula1971

When you go to Niagara Falls you have to visit the Wax Museum or something equally tacky. It's the law I think... The sights in the Falls range from 5 star upscale to truly mindboggling tackiness. I think that's what the attaction has been for all these years. The side to see is actually the Canadian side. Only recently has the New York side started to clean itself up.
I think the best day to visit Niagara Falls, Canada, is on July 4th. The crowds aren't too bad and you get the light show from the American side when they set off their Independence Day fireworks. We happened upon this by accident and it was truly stunning.

Driving to Niagara from Queens!

by machomikemd

Wow this is a Tiring Drive and It took about 10 hours and a few stops to gas stations for us to arrive at niagara falls from woodhaven in queens. the distance is about 422 miles and it gets confusing at times since there are so many turnpikes from the freeways here (there are no turnpikes in the west coast), we got lost near syracuse and also in scranton in pennsylvania but eventually got to niagara falls via the I-290W and I-190N.

Bird watching

by tpangelinan

Yes even here you can find many different types of birds, my guess is to to the amount of BUGS around here. Some times you can catch the birds playing in the mist at Terrapin Point at the Horseshoe Falls, we saw up to 100 birds in the mist at any point and then they are all gone, you turn and they all can back again, it weird. Any way there are many types of water fowl to be found and enjoy.

Packing List

by saritas

Borrow or buy a decent camera. Or go to www.ebay and bargain for a used one. ( I've bought 2 from there- good deals and fine products). Your disposable cameras will NOT do the job.
Evening shots are best w/ a 35mm with 1600 speed film + a tripod. Day shots best with 400 speed film. Travel lightly.
Bring credit card, debit card (good rate of exchange if you use debit card).
Lots of money if you don't bring the cards.

Take a ride to lake Ontario

by tpangelinan

Take a ride up to Lake Ontario and take in the sightes up there. This is really a beautiful ride and only takes about 15 to 20 minutes. There are several historical sights to see on the the way and the water is beautiful. You can pull off the road and stop at the many pull offs along the way.
