Great Hudson River Views!

Really, the only decent place to stay in the Peekskill area. I personally have never stayed here as I live here, and my family stayed in my house when they visited. But we've checked it out for future family visits!

According to this week's (1/20/2005) paper, the Peekskill Inn will soon be undergoing a massive renovation, which will double the number of rooms. http://www.northcountynews.com/view.asp?s=1-19-05/topstory.htm

Unique Quality: Peekskill Inn overlooks both busy Route 9 and the beautiful Hudson River, so you get a little noise but peacefulness beyond that. Rooms are motel-style, so no interior corridors. You may, however, want to forgo the view from the front rooms and ask for ones in the back- they seem like they'd be significantly quieter. There is also a pool and Henry's on the Hudson Restaurant (see restaurant tips) between the front rooms and the river views.

Great Views on the 4th of July

by cruisingbug about Henry's on the Hudson

Henry's has been open for over a year, replacing Oliver's, a British pub food style restaurant.

The restaurant, located on the grounds of the Peekskill Inn, overlooks the Hudson River and Peekskill's waterfront, the location of the city's annual fireworks show. But any time of year, the Hudson River views are spectacular.

The food is good, prices are reasonable, service was good considering there was only one waitress on the early shift. We've only eaten here twice since the restaurant changed hands, but there were still some favorites on the menu. When it was Oliver's, I loved the puff-pastry chicken pot pie (so light and flaky!), and was happy to see it still there. The last time we were there I sampled the shepherd's pie, also a holdover, and it was fine except for the slightly off-smelling cheddar on top, which I removed. Soup of the day or salad comes with your meal, but it's well worth the $4.50 to get the Half Moon Soup - one side is pureed carrot soup, the other is pureed red pepper soup. Very pretty!
