More about WhistleWood Farm Bed and Breakfast
A great find in the country!
by TripAdvisor Member llbarbie
We just got back from a great weekend in Rhinebeck! Staying at Whistle Wood Farm was such a treat! Maggie and Liz were so hospitable that we felt very comfortable staying there and will definitely come back soon. Not to mention how comfortable they made our dog feel this was so nice that it really contributed to us having a great time in a warm, friendly and cozy environment. It is truly a memorable experience staying on an actual horse farm. Great location and plenty to do in the area.
A relaxing anniversary Getaway!

With this being my first experience at a B&B, and not knowing what to expect I was extremely nervous. After entering the house and being greeted immmediately by Maggie I was a bit at ease. She showed us to our room which was the Sweet Violet Room, my wife and I were extremely surprised at how beautifully decorated and clean the room was. We then walked into the kitchen where we were greeted with homemade cakes, pies, fruits and drinks and anything else that would make you feel at home. Maggie and Liz made breakfast the two mornings that we were there that was out of this world!! The views and the quietness were fantastic and very relaxing... The fire pit that Maggie started for us kept us mesmorized for hours. We spent some time playing and petting Maggies two wonderful dogs, ( Lulu the Lab and the great BIG PLAYFUL JAKE the Bernese Mountain Dog). Can't wait to take the kids back to see the horses and DONKEY as well as the dogs. So if you're looking for a place to stay and relax but yet still feel at home Whistle Wood B&B is your place as it is ours now.
Thanks for everything Maggie and Liz and say hi to the dogs for us!!
If you can't relax here, I feel badly for you

The Whistle Wood Farm is nestled in a quiet scenic spot near the town of Rhinebeck, NY. The proprietor, Maggie, is hospitable, cooks a personalized and delicious breakfast, and knows every place to go and see. The accommodations are clean and inviting. Even the stuffed animals (real), which would usually be a turn-off to me, fit in with the decor and are not offensive. You can't help but relax in this beautiful, natural setting.

The farm is beautiful and we loved watching the horses. It was nice to be near Rhinebeck yet not in the middle of town. Our room was very nice, though the mattress was uncomfortably soft. Breakfast was good. I would stay here again.

As you drive up the long winding driveway you get a comforting feeling. The horses and Tigger the donkey, were wonderful to watch. As we entered the inn (five women on our way to the sheep fest) we were greeted by Liz and the aroma of fresh cookies coming out of the oven. We were quickly shone to our respective rooms and told to please help ourselves to the goodies on the hospitality table. We then headed out the door to inspect the surrounding lawns and pastures. We met Maggie, the proprieter, on her way up to the inn. We were again welcomed with a smile and told to enjoy ourselves. As a group, we chose to stay in for the evening and partake of the food that we had collectively brought. Both Liz and Maggie were very accommodating with bowls and pots in which to prepare our fare. By the way, the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool festival was just as wonderfull this years as it has been in past years.
Yes, we will be staying here again next year and have already reserved our rooms. Maggie, Liz, have a wonderful winter and we will see you next year.
Fondly,

You can't beat that. Everything was what I was looking for: a quiet, relaxing getaway in the countryside. Maggie, the owner, and her staff and animals (horses, donkey, and dogs) were all very friendly.
You can't go wrong really. It is a 10 minute drive from town, has a fire place, and a dessert table available 24/7.
WhistleWood Can't Be Beat

We celebrated a triple 50th birthday with family from 5 states and the weekend was truly wonderful.
The rooms were large, comfortable and decorated in great taste. The grounds were both relaxing and fun, with plenty of room for adults and kids to play or rest.
The horsey atmosphere is delightful and helps make WhistleWood a special getaway. As does Maggie, the owner, who is a warm and inviting host who happens to cook a great breakfast!
All in all we can't say enough about Whistle Wood, where "the fences sing when the wind blows."
We'll be back again ... and again ... and again.
Everything you want in a B& B, and horses too!

Believe all the raves -- this place is very special. You feel like you're way out in the country, but busy Rhinebeck is only three miles away. Our room had its own patio, a spectacular view of the property and the horses grazing in the pasture below, a jacuzzi tub, a fireplace, and a host of quirky and fun Western themed antiques, including a red canoe hanging from the ceiling. We loved Maggie's gracious and relaxed brand of hospitality, the 24 hour dessert table, the immaculate housekeeping, the great breakfasts, and all the friendly animals. We liked it so much we're going back in a few weeks!
Great for Kids

Lovely stay - kids roam free w. horses. Big Dad had big comfortable room. Mom made lots of new friends. Hard to believe it's so close to NYC! I feel I've been away for a month...
