nice,clean, close to the town
by gcmm about Howard Johnsons
When we were in Niagra we stayed at the Howard Johnsons hotel....
It was a nice clean place....
Price wise it was very good compared to some of the other places and had indoor/outdoor pools.
We had a connecting ,room which was very good with children, a queen bed and two singles in the other room each with it's own bath....
There are many hotels in niagra, this one was close to everything, we were actually able to walk to the falls and around town... Two pools, hot tub and sauna
easy acess to everything....
Price was reasonable
Only a block or so from the falls
maid of the mist
has suites and jacuzzi rooms...
Good Value in Hankamer, Texas
by Basaic about America's Best Value Inn
This was my first experience with an America's Best Value Inn. It appeared to be a notch above a Motel 6 for about the same price. It really was a good value. I especially liked the microfridge. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning very welcome in Texas in July. The continental breakfast was okay. I may keep my eye open for these hotels during future travels.
Unique Qualities: This hotel has 42 rooms loaded with premium cable channels, a coffeemaker, iron/ironing board, and a microfridge. Internet access is available. They also have a decent continental breakfast.

Niagara Falls
by Leipzig
Niagara Falls is perhaps the most popular tourist attraction. Located on the Niagara River on the border between the United States and Canada, the Niagara Falls includes three separate waterfalls. The major part is situated on Canadian site. Actually the falls are neither the highest nor the widest but rather the most commerical. Numerous hotels, casinos and amusement facilities are built around. I personally was a bit disappointed.
Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls, a great natural wonder located on the border between Canada and the United States of America. It's easy to walk around the area and parts of the town. The American side of the falls are interesting as you can right up to them and walk over small parts of them. The Canadian side offers better views of the falls as a whole (much more info will be in my other tips once I write them for the Canadian side). The city of Niagara Falls has a population of around 56,000 people and really doesn't compare to the Canadian side. It is more or less a gateway to the falls with a few hotels where the Canadian side is developed into almost an attraction on it's own. You can walk or drive to the Canadian side via the Rainbow Bridge.
Beach in New York
by albertgo21
Coney Island Beach is the natural attraction of New York City
Coney Island became a resort after the Civil War as excursion railroads and the Coney Island & Brooklyn Railroad streetcar line reached the area in the 1860s. With the rail lines, steamship lines and access to the beach came major hotels and public and private beaches, followed by horse racing, amusement parks, and less reputable entertainments such as Three-card Monte, other gambling entrepreneurs, and prostitution.
If you are tourist touring New York City and you suddenly had the urge to swim and you don't want it to be in a pool then Coney Island beach is definitely the place you want to go.
Coney Island Beach has a long stretch of beach that would be ideal for sun bathing , Walking by the beach or just sit down and eat your hot dog.
After swimming and resting by the beach you can go to the amusement park just behind the beach. Now thats a place that you want to be at.
I would go here anytime I think you should too.ü

Hi, I will be in New York from Christmas Eve to New Year's and am looking for an affordable hotel to stay in. I've narrowed down my options to these few near Times Square which suit my budget.
Travel Inn Hotel-slightly more expensive than the rest but has good reviews
Holiday Inn Martinique
Amsterdam Court
Ramada New Yorker
These 3 are cheaper but I'm bothered by the bad reviews I read from tripadvisor. I really want to enjoy my stay since I will be staying for a week. Can those of you who have stayed/know friends who have stayed in any of these hotels offer your view on how the experience was?
In addition, is it really that bad to venture out to Times Square on New Year's Eve? I was hoping to at least be at the edge of the crowd :)
Lastly, are most of the shops open on Christmas Day and New Year's?
I'll really appreciate any input and thanks in advance!!

Hi,
I am visiting New York from 31st Dec - 3rd Jan. I would like to have suggestions on safe and inexpensive 3 star hotels in and around Manhattan area. Would also like to know what price would be a good bargain.
Any recommendations on good 3 star hotels in the above mentioned area will also be appreciated.
Thanks,

New Year's Eve is going to be very expensive...can you change your dates? You might check portlandsquarehotel.net but this is not a 3 star hotel, barely 2 stars.
Dec 31 and Jan 1, most every hotel is sold out.

Good Luck!!! Getting a hotel in Manhattan on New Year's Eve is nearly impossible. It is the busiest night of the year in NYC. In New Jersey, there are hotels around the Meadowlands, North Bergen, and Secaucus, which have bus service into the city. That would probably be your best bet.
