You can do better - small and loud

There are two major problems with this hotel: everything is small - except the noise.

First, the rooms are tiny. There is barely enough room for the furniture. The "closet" is an 18" wide armoire with a rod about 4 feet off the ground. The tub is 18 inches wide, maybe 4 feet long. There is no place to put your bags that isn't in the way. And all that would be OK, since once you turn the lights off, all rooms look the same. But this room does come with one BIG feature - it's LOUD. So loud, it kills sleep. The problem are the doors. They're heavy, with no padding, so they slam. All of them - the door to your room, the door to the stairs, the door to your bathroom. And they have no muffling or noise proofing, so you hear everyone of these slams, LOUDLY.

Why mention the door to the stairs? The only elevator is big enough for about 3 people - less with bags - and super slow - so you will be taking the stairs a lot, along with everyone else. So that door will be waking you up, and keeping you up.

Besides the tiny rooms, lousy elevator and awful noise, the free breakfast features pre-cooked omelets, sausage and biscuits, along with the normal bagels, toast and cereal. At least, we think it does - they were out both days we went down. So was the regular coffee. The people who had manages to snag some seemed to like them. The bagels were OK. Not great for New York, but better than Lender's.

PS - we're used to small hotel rooms in New York City - in Manhattan. Not in Staten island.

Unique Quality: It's the Jimmy Dickens Hotel - it's little but it's LOUD.
