Camp Dippikill - White Pine Lodge: Camp Dippikill

Stage area at the White Pine Lodge

Ahh as I look at the picture from their website - the ping pong table. The site of many beer pong evening matches that weekend.

Camp Dippikill - White Pine Lodge: Camp Dippikill

From their website:

"Camp Dippikill is an 850 acre wilderness retreat facility completely owned and operated by the Student Association at the University at Albany. Often referred to as the students' personal "Walden" that Henry David Thoreau once wrote about, our guests come from far and near to relax in the tranquil surroundings of the Adirondack Mountains. Crisp air and vibrant colors welcome all who venture this way. The Camp has a 20 acre pond and 7.5 miles of well groomed trails. There are eight lodges at Dippikill which range in size and style, to accommodate any guest. There are also eight camp sites, four at the pond and four at the Bathhouse. Camp Dippikill is truly a remarkable place! "

White Pine Lodge has floor sleeping room for around 20 or so people. It has 2 fridges, 2 ovens, running water, a stage area for entertainment, and a huge fireplace. Toilet and showers are in the outdoor bathhouse about 50 feet away from the lodge.

You are surrounded by nature. Embrace it.

Around 12 of us stayed at the White Pine Lodge during January 1997. It is the largest lodge at Camp Dippikill. There's a funny story that went along on how I was convinced to go and what happened when we got there, but I'll leave that for another time. Something about how my friend almost got us killed in a car accident by playing chicken with a snowplow truck in the middle of a blizzard ... something about promises that there will be "tons of chicks" staying there but at the last minute backing out because of a little blizzard - as my friend said WTF this is a sausage party WTF ... and last but not least the outhouse 50 feet away - a long way in the middle of a blizzard filled weekend.
