While a long trip from 1000 Islands to Cooperstown NY, my wife and I had to stop in Watertown without pre existing reservation at any hotel. While the premium Hotels in the area were asking over $125.00 for the night, we found Travel Lodge for less than $75.00. All that we needed was a clean room, comfortable bed and decent place to stay. We were pleasantly surprised with the room, bed and breakfast. The staff was very friendly and our unanounced stay was quiet within our budget. It helps to find a place like this during the recession we are in.

Directions: Go east on Arsenal St about a mile, Watertown, NY exit from I-81 (Go past McDonalds).
