WATKINS GLEN STATE PARK This is one of New York State's prettiest parks. There is a mile and a half walking trail and along the way you will see beautiful gorges, 19 waterfalls, and 300 ft Sandstone cliffs. I would suggest you visit here in the late spring to Autumn because most of the park is closed in the winter because of the snow.

Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge. Campers and day-visitors can enjoy the Olympic-size pool, tent and trailer campsites, picnic facilities and excellent fishing in nearby Seneca Lake or Catherine Creek, which is renowned for its annual spring run of rainbow trout.
Near south end of Seneca Lake, off Route 14. Main entrance, Village of Watkins Glen.
more than NASCAR and the Glen

Most people think of NASCAR and the actual Glen itself when they think of Watkins Glen, but there is much more than that!
Take time to explore the town, swim in Seneca Lake, and drive through the countryside, including all the great wineries.
