Skiing at 4,000 feet like the Olympians!
Whiteface is one of the highest ski places in the East (according to their own information) and they have added a whole new mountain this year to the already prolific trails. I skied lookout mountain this weekend and the new trail and it was AWESOME! It starts flat and has some great drops and turns and the conditions were so fabulous and the crowds were so minimal it felt like we had our own private mountain. Not to mention the fact that they hosted two Olympics and thanks to ORDA (Olympic Regional Development Authority) - they still host lots of events. They were running the World Cup of ski cross while we were there but the place is so big that it did not interfere with our fun. Also, since the kids and beginners areas are so separated from the intermediate and expert areas, every level of skier has their challenges and fun without getting tangled up with other levels. Rentals are available on-site or at Cunningham's Ski Barn in Lake Placid. Plenty of parking.
