Woodstock, Schlock at its worst!
Woodstock is a really "groovy" place to visit. Full of aging hippies, new hippies and yuppies who want to escape the rat-race. Along with hordes of day trippers who invade this quaint town on weekends to destroy its natural charm. The area abounds with art galleries and studios but within the town of Woodstock, you will generally only find crap geared for the eyes and wallets of the average tourist. Incense and tye-dye shirts abound.
The Catskill mountains provide beautiful hiking trails, lakes and scenic drives. Woodstock is just a nice, relaxing place to visit where you can stock up on patchouli & tofu.
We saw these anti-war protesters gathering in downtown Woodstock. Unfortunately, it was not an impressive turnout and we got to listen to sightseers make derogatory comments about these protesters and what they were speaking up about. Namely, the unelected President Bush's decision, based on lies and deceit, to invade a country that did not want us there. I'm glad there are still people who feel free enough to speak out against this regime regardless of what may happen to them thanks to the Patriot Act which denies the Constitutional right to Free Speech.
