elegant and costly B&B
This is not a place to save money. The rooms start at $110 and go up to $200 per night.
This is a place to savor the elegance of an old family home, nicely trimmed and decorated with antiques.
The rooms come in a variety of configurations with a list of amenities. Simple double bed room with shower was at the inexpensive end of options; large queen four-poster bed with whirlpool and fireplace were at the top of the list. All rooms were spotless and had heating/cooling and fresh linens.
The dining area for breakfast was nice and cozy. The restaurant area for dinner was fabulous; all dark woods and white linens and personal table service by experienced hosts.
The menu for breakfast was continental style but had eggs and pancakes if you wanted (all in the price of the room). The menu for dinner was a bit limited specializing in what i considered high-priced dishes that looked good and I am sure tasted good but were at the upper end of our budget. Don't expect to get a simple hamburger or piece of chicken. Beef Wellington and Chicken French with wine sauce are more typical of the delicious fare.
The room was terrific, the food for breakfast (complimentary) was great as was the somewhat expensive meal in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. Special touches (fresh flowers in the room, and extra pillows) added to the experience. The advice by the hostess on activities in the area and historical information about the hotel and region kept us entertained.
They do offer special seasonal packages and packages with dinner and a room. You save about 10% on the individual costs.
