Abbington Green B&B Inn

It just seems like the right thing to do in quaint Asheville.
A National Historic Registry location in the historic Montford district is the definitely the way to go if you can afford it.
It's a beautiful, Colonial Revival Mansion that's also close to downtown and just off the Blue Ridge Pkwy.
$135-265/night.

Awonderful B & B in Asheville, NC

by TripAdvisor Member bflotales

This is a truly lovely and welcoming place, a landmark home that has been completely enhanced in the historic Montford neighborhood. The rooms are well furnished and elegantly decorated. The public areas on the first floor of the main building are very spacious,. The breakfasts are absolutely fabulous, some might say "over the top." That all being said, the greatest asset of the place is the proprietor. If you were to ask central casting to send over a person to play a B & B operator, the perfect choice would be Valerie, the innkeeper at Abbington Green.

A Beautiful B&B

by TripAdvisor Member slong116

Abbington Green is a beautifully restored home in Asheville's historic district. We decided to stay in this area for our visit to the nearby Biltmore House and chose Abbington Green due to the fact that we are both Anglophiles! Our room (Grovesnor's Square) was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities one could want including a little sitting area overlooking the beautiful gardens which set this B&B apart from the crowd. Valerie is a very gracious host and an excellent cook! Our breakfast was as delicious as it was elegant; it was also quite substantial and held us over for the entire day of touring the Biltmore!

Loved Abbington Green in Asheville

by TripAdvisor Member mamakat2

This was our first stay at a B&B in the US. My husband has stayed at many B&Bs in Europe on golf trips so we thought we'd try one in Asheville. We both loved it. We especially looked forward to breakfast every day. It was spectacular! and we got to meet the other guests staying there. Valerie was very attentive to our needs giving us excellent suggestions on places to eat and where to shop and giving us a good overall idea of the area and what to see and do. Staying at Abbington Green was the best choice we could have made for our first trip to Asheville.

Loved the Abbington Green Bed & Breakfast Inn

by TripAdvisor Member SherlockGeorgia

This is without a doubt one of the best bed & breakfast inns. The suite we stayed is decorated so elegantly with English decor. Great attention was spent on detail. Valerie was an excellent hostess and her breakfasts are delicious and creative. The next time we are in Asheville, NC, we will definitely stay at Abbington Green.

The Inkeeper Extraordinaire

by TripAdvisor Member olreddog

On May 10 my wife and I visited with Valerie for the second time at Abbington Green, her great Bed & Breakfast. We were very impressed with the improvements she had made to the house over the years. Our first visit was the second year she owned the house over 10 years ago. She surprised us at breakfast by serving the cold cherry soup that she had served on our first visit. The breakfast was excellent as was the conversations we had with our other guests, but the best part of our visit was reminiscing with the innkeeper extraordinaire. Thanks again Valerie for your hospitality.

Loved Everything

We just returned from my birthday weekend at Asheville and the wonderful Abbington Green B&B. Everything was perfect. The hostess was there to greet us and aquaint us with the house and surroundings with suggestions of ways to enjoy our weekend. The rooms were decorated beautifully and very functional while feeling you were in an English manor home. The house is easily within walking distance from the eclectic downtime Asheville with the many galleries and great resturants.

Breakfast was fantastic, too detailed to explain but I am sure no one will be disappointed. Elegantly served on English china the entire breakfast was a treat. No one would leave the table hungry.

I would recommend this to everyone.

Good Times - Great Tub

by TripAdvisor Member sweetmoe_3

We live in Asheville and one weekend last winter, we needed a break and a "weekend getaway" and deciced to be tourists in our own town. For our stay we chose Abbington Green and loved it sooooo very much. After our stay there, my fiancee and I talked about the room and the tub for months and decided to spend our first night as a married couple there. The Inn is spectacular and Valerie is the ultimate hostess and chef. She is so very accommadating and can even make arrangements for field trips and help buy tickets. Her breakfasts are amazing and the mere thought of her crepes makes my mouth water. We always stay in the Grovenor's Square suite and feel so relaxed and pampered when we're there. The wonderful, well tended and planned gardens that surround the house are great for sitting after breakfast, and the traditional southern porch, with rocking chairs, is ideal for socializing in the afternoon. We can't wait to have an excuse to return and highly recommend it for any couple visiting or living in our area.

I just wanted to tell everyone what a wonderful experience it was to stay at the Abbington. The Inn itself was marvelous, with beautiful and tastefully decorated rooms, great amenities, and fabulous breakfasts. It has beautiful gardens, great porches to take in the morning or evening, and a very comfortable feel, with great British flair and touches.Valerie, the innkeeper, has gone to great effort to recreate a little bit of England in Asheville, and has created a real gem.She is very personable, and goes to lengths to make you feel at home. She was very helpful in planning and providing information relating to activities in the area.Thank you Valerie for making the stay a memorable one.

visiting from NYC

We drove into Asheville from Charlotte airport, and as we pulled up to Abbington Green, we knew we were at home. From the point we walked in and met the innkeeper, Valerie, to when we sadly departed, everything was perfect. The house sits up off the street on a nice hill surrounded by gardens. We actually stayed in a suite, behind the house in the old carriagehouse. The room was just amazing, with everything we need there -- comfy bed, own bathroom with jet-tub, flat-screen TV, coffeemaker, electric fireplace for the winter, and great AC for the 90-100 degree heat wave we caught. The room was very crisp and clean, and very comfortable with British charm -- not "grandmothery" like other B&B's can be at times. Only downside was that there was not too much room for luggage, but that's expected when you're staying in a B&B over a hotel. The breakfasts were all great, and all the other guests were all so friendly. We were surely the youngest couple at 30, but the atmosphere was just perfect that we felt compelled to spend more time at the B&B, even sitting on the front porch one evening with a bottle of wine, local fruits, and engaging in conversation with our fellow guests before dinner and a night on the town. The access to downtown is great -- a short 5-minute drive, or casual 20-minute walk, which we felt was quite safe through the Montford neighborhood. Very easy go get to from from the main highway, but also very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.
