More about Brookstone Lodge

Not worth the money

by TripAdvisor Member Heatherndave

My wife and I stayed at the Brookstone during our recent trip to Asheville. The hotel was very clean, and the location was convenient to the interstate, and within easy driving distance of town. The breakfast was fine (better during the week when they have fresh waffles), beds were comfortable, and the flat-screen tv was nice. My only gripes with the room were the pillows (firm) and the walls (very thin - we could hear a lot from both neighbors).

With all that said, the service at the hotel was very poor. The day before our scheduled checkout, the desk called to ask when we were checking out. When we departed, we waited for more than 20 minutes to be checked out due to issues with the computer system. When we got home, I checked my credit card statement and saw that we had been charged $105 MORE than the invoice we signed when we departed. I spoke to an assistant manager about this, and was told that there had been a problem with the computer when we left. They had "corrected" the charges (without notifying us). No other attempt to correct the problem or earn my repeat business beyond an apology.

Bottom line - there are other comparable options for less money, and hopefully less hassle. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Awesome Place to Stay

by TripAdvisor Member VacationsRock16

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night in Asheville. The city is beautiful and this hotel was one of our favorites on the trip. We had never been to North Carolina before and loved that the hotel was so easy to get to from the freeway. The hotel has a "woodsy" feel which was really cool. Our room was very nice and I highly recommend a room with a hottub. The staff were very helpful and kind. The breakfast in the morning was the best we had out of 7 hotels offering a free continental style breakfast. Great attention to detail. We really loved it here. I would highly recommend staying at Brookstone.

Excellent Value, Clean Facility and Friendly, Courteous Staff!

by TripAdvisor Member mercedespooldude

This was our first stay here. We enjoyed staying here. The facilities are new and I expect that they will stay that way for a good while due to the attentiveness of the staff. The staff was not only courteous and cheerful but quite willing to assist the guests promptly. Oh and dont worry about trying to find someone that works here this hotel is well staffed and it shows! We were a bit concerned as there was a very large family reunion staying here on the same weekend but the staff handled it all with ease. The breakfast was healthly and offered a good selection. The girls tending to the breakfast buffet were pleasant and courteous and kept the buffet fresh and well stocked in spite of the large crowd.
The fellas behind the desk were friendly and courteous as well. We inquired about a good place to eat dinner and Clyde referred us to a restaurant closeby named Cheddars which offered delicious and affordable food at unbelievable prices!
Great place to stay and its close to everything Asheville!

not great.....

by TripAdvisor Member pwilfert

First let me start by saying...i personally believe most of the hotels in Asheville are WAAAAYY over priced. You pay about $50-75 less in most other cities for the same places. My hubby and I usually stay at a B&B while in asheville for this reason (they tend to run close to price with the lower end B$b's with more personal service). However, since it was a one night stay on a weekend, we had to stay at a hotel. We chose this place for price and location. The hotel is new is conveintly located to biltmore and downtown. But I was a bit disappointed at our stay. When we first arrive at 4.30 pm, we were informed that our room was still not ready (as per website check in was at 3pm). I know it was a very busy weekend since it was one of their biggest art festivals going on (Bele Cere), but we were a little put off upon arrival. We decided to go run some errands and come back. When we did come back, our room was ready. However, when we got to the room, it was a double. We had actually place a reservation on line directly with the hotel (not orbiz or yahoo etc) and we made a reservation for a King. Unfortunately none were available. of course they didn't charge us for King but still frustrating. The rooms are new and clean...but the beds and pillows are not comfy too firm and stiff. I ached the next morning after sleeping on their beds. Now don't get me wrong, we don't stay at the ritz when we stay at hotels...we usually stay at places like the hampton inn or similar places. The breakfast provided in the morning was average....yes there were some scambled eggs...but it wasn't that impressive. I will have to give credit to the staff since my review hasn't been that good. The staff was very pleasant, nice, and polite. So I will commend the hotel on that. But overall, I would not stay at this hotel again.

"The Brookstone Lodge, A New Treasure In Asheville"

by TripAdvisor Member BiltmoreClub

My husband and I have been traveling to Ashville for years and recently we found a new treasure... The Brookstone Lodge !!!! From our first conversation with Clyde until our departure it was wonderful... We've stayed at several spots in Ashville including the Estate... But the staff at Brookstone are among the nicest we've met... They do an awesome job!!! The facilities are warm and inviting. Smiles and friendly greetings make you feel right at home... Waking up to a very nice breakfast just sets the day in the right direction... It's only been a month and we've decided to go back next weekend.... Thanks to Will, Clyde, and all the staff .....

Best hotel experience

I found this hotel on the internet while searching for a bargain place to stay in Asheville. I originally wanted to stay downtown, to be near everything, but couldn't pass up the deal I received from Brookstone Lodge. When I got there, I quickly realized how close it was to everything. The customer service was terrific. I was really amazed at the cleanliness of the property. It just opened in the spring, but still it was unusually clean. I notice the little things, like the tub size, the shower curtain totally enclosing the tub, the tv channels listed in the room (thank you!), the comfortable bed, the stairway, even, was extra wide, had carpeted stairs, and was well lit! I will definitely stay here again in the future!

Great place, great staff, great location...we'll be back!

by TripAdvisor Member sbe2009

We traveled here with our 2 kids, 9 and 12, to do the tourist thing. From our first encounter with the staff, Will (Asst. Mgr.), at 10:30 Thursday evening, we have been thrilled. The place is clean and fresh, breakfast is great, pool and hot tub are clean and inviting, the bed and pillows are super-comfortable, staff is so cheerful and helpful...we couldn't ask for more. And the prices are very reasonable for a generally-overpriced area such as Asheville. Location is very convenient to Biltmore, Tunnel Road, downtown Asheville. We will definitely be back!

Great place to go!!

by TripAdvisor Member travelingmom2221

This was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was funny and knowledgeable. The hot breakfast was great. It was close to everything, yet away enough to have a place to go home to each night. It was very clean and the staff was quick to help with anything. In fact we cancelled our other hotel in order to have another night at this one.

Good spot for checking out Asheville

by TripAdvisor Member Donnysaur

The location was convenient for exploring Asheville, but not very visually appealing...right off the highway and next to an amusement area (Fun Depot?). The rooms were very nice and had an upscale vibe. The building had a nice feeling of newness. The free wireless Internet was very good from our room. Fitness area too small. Breakfast area was also on the small side and felt cramped both mornings of our stay. The breakfast itself had all the normal offerings of an extended-continental breakfast. Not a big deal in itself...but the half-dozen tea bags available were crammed into a nondescript container in the breakfast area and were clearly an afterthought. There was a small glass-front refrigerator in the breakfast area containing yogurts which had a small padlock on it after breakfast hours. While I know you can't give everything away, I thought at the time "would it kill them if someone had a late-night yogurt?" Bottled water, candy bars, and chips were on in a basket on display in your room for sale. Some people would see this as a convenience, but it can also come-off as the place being cheap.
Many of the reviews of this lodging were quite-glowing so I had high expectations. We would certainly consider staying here again, but our experience was really no better than average.

excellent hotel

We stayed here for the first time in July 2009. We were very impressed with the Brookstone Lodge and the friendly staff. We wil stay here again on our next trip to Asheville.
