Recommend an Asheville B&B for a Honeymoon!

by JimR1998

OK, so you're getting away from the big city and driving 9 hours to Asheville for your honeymoon. A week at the Biltmore breaks the budget-- where do you stay?

We're a late 20's/early 30-something couple looking for somewhere quiet to RELAX and do things on our own schedule. We'll be visiting the 1st week of April and would like to spend under $175/night. Any recommendations?

A few places we've heard of:

Sourwood Inn just outside of town... private, supposedly good service, a hundred acres or so to explore... but I'm worried about being away from the town and having to drive everywhere... meals, nightlife, etc.

Princess Anne Hotel... someone recommended it, but I couldn't find many reviews on the web. First-- is it quiet? Looks close to an Intertstate. How central is it to the touristy/fun sections of town?

What's your pick for the best honeymoon-worthy B&B? And how about the best breakfast in town?

Just wondering... we'll be making reservations SOMEWHERE this week. Thanks!

Come on down! The first week of April is usually a great time to catch a good dose of Appalachian Spring.
The Sourwood Inn: Great spot, rustic/ comfortable, yet upscale; and the menu looks very good. Sweet mountain setting. If you want to be away from everything, it's a great pick. But, it's WAY up a mountain, and if you'll be dining out and catching the downtown flavors, it may be too much of a drive.
Princess Anne: Haven't been in it yet (It's newly re-opened), but the location's good. It's 2-3 blocks off I-240, and I wouldn't say the noise would be that bad. Close to town, where you want to be.

My pick: The Sweet Biscuit Inn 828-250-0170
The innkeepers, Robert & Angela, are good folks, and you will feel welcome & well taken care of. The house is comfortable, the breakfast is big, and downtown is just a couple minutes away. Ask about the Carridge house, which you could have all to yourselves (Honeymoon).

Any of the B&B's on Montford Ave., in the Montford historic district are nice. As well, A couple of fancy Hotels might be worth exploring. Downtown: the Renaissance, or the Battery Park. The Grove Park Inn is truly a special place to go have cocktails, much less stay at. I'm not sure if it's w/in range for your budget, though. Check it out.

Congrats to you both & Enjoy your visit!

Congratulations!

We stayed here many years ago. The food was great, plus it has its own small English garden:
