More about Willow Winds
relaxing stay at Willow Winds Cabin
Our stay at Willow Winds was very nice. We stayed in cabin Jen's Jewel, alot of space for the 2 of us. We were on our 10yr. Anniv. (no kids this trip) Pat, Mary and Linda very helpful with getting us whatever we needed (directions were printed on an index card to take). Close to downtown Asheville and Biltmore, but still enough away from city life. Looking out of Jen's Jewel you see nature, trees and more tree's , Our stay was very peaceful!
My husband and I stayed in the Sophia's Sapphire cabin for our honeymoon in October 2006. We could not say enough good things about this place, it was by far the best place we've ever stayed. The grounds were beautiful, during our stay the fall color was simply stunning. The cabin was beyond perfect. Everything was new, it had wood-burning fireplace, hot tub, deck, great furniture, high speed internet, easy access to Asheville...
The office has a wonderful video/dvd library you can check out for free and there are awesome walking trails you can pick up from the grounds.
Absolutely stay here, you'll be glad you did!!!
loved Cora's Pine cabin
just returned from a 3 day stay in Cora's Pine at Willow Winds - the cabin was very comfortable and I loved the location. Close to Asheville yet it had the feel of a hideaway in the mountains. Will return.
Your favorite aunt has loaned you her cabin...
Honestly, that is how we felt, during our week at Willow Winds. The cabin (Andrew's) was immaculate and perfectly spacious for two, stocked with absolutely everything one could need for easy housekeeping. I can't say enough about how clean, new and inviting the
cabins all were.
The grounds themselves are simply amazing. They are quite extensive, and wrap all around the cabins, interspersed with fountains, a putting
green, play areas and even a stocked trout pond. The landscaping is gorgeous even in fall, and must be quite a sight in springtime. This is definitely a property which would be enjoyable during any season.
The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful, and that includes absolutely everyone that we ran into during our stay, including the fellows planting the new hollys. It really did feel as if you were staying with family.
Two details had clinched the location for us: the cabins all have DSL (which allowed my husband to work remotely all week, and squeeze in another week's "vacation" that way) and the access to the Mountains
-To -Sea-Trail right nearby. From the top of Willow Winds Lane it is only about 100' to the trail, which allows you to hike, parallel to the Blue Ridge Parkway for as long as you might like in either direction. Very convenient to be able to just hike out!
Once you find the map on their website, and the layout of the property, consider this, too: it falls off 125 feet from the top of Willow Winds Lane down to the entrance! This makes for some very nice views in some of the cabins, and adds to the privacy.
Really, I can't say enough nice things about the property, its upkeep,
and the people who manage and run it. We hope to go back many more times in the future.
Stayed in the Jessie's Magnolia unit. Everything we needed for the stay was provided. Wood for the fireplace, starter sticks, linens, dishes, utensils. Just had to provide the food. The unit was immaculate.
Very convenient to the Biltmore House which was our primary destination.
Loved Willow Winds
We very much enjoyed our 5 day stay at Willow Winds. We saw the Biltmore, of course (amazing), but really enjoyed the Parkway, the local farmer's market, the local barbque, and the downtown artist center. The cabins at Willow Winds are immaculate and comfortable, firewood delivered for those cold evenings, along with fire starters...romantic! Watch for friendly squirrels on the porch, but you can't take them home, unfortunately. A real vacation. Thanks Pat, Linda and Mary, Proprietors. Mary and Chester Makowski
Pleasant cabin and near Biltmore.
We were very pleased with our stay at the cabin. It was clean and neat. There was attention to detail in that the owners had provided various items and service that made it easy to settle in for a few days. That was appreciated as we arrived after dark with two young children (and two adults).
The location was good in that it was close to the Biltmore Estate and close to highways/interstates for outings to the mountains.
In all, there was no "roughing it" and helpful staff were readily available and only a couple of minutes away.
This is not a remote mountain cabin where you are living "one with nature", if that is what you are looking for.
The Perfect Getaway
Sometimes when we cannot find a word strong enough to describe excellence, we use one that Disney created which comes in quite handy: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! It speaks well of the lovely cabins, beautiful grounds, helpful staff, soothing hot tubs, restful hammocks, some good shots at the putting green, the awe of nature on the trail, and then the sun setting behind the mountains with a roaring fire waiting inside with a mouth watering dinner of fish from the stocked pond. Who could ask for anything more? We do for we keep going back again and again and again. Peggy and Richard Manz
Excellent vacation spot
My husband, two kids and I stayed at Willow Winds while he was home on two weeks R&R from Iraq. It was absolutely wonderful. An easy ride to all attractions, we went skiing in Mars Hill. It was so nice to return to a spacious cabin instead of a cramped hotel room. The value for the money is outstanding.
The evening fire kept us all warm and we all took a soak in the hot tub on an unexpectedly warm winter day. Willow Winds provided all the amenities that you'd expect in a ritzy resort and then some. We were pleasantly surprised when we drove through a residential area to find it only to learn that it is quite secluded and quiet.
We explored the grounds, fished in the pond, took walks and relaxed on the upper deck. The cabin (Irene's Oak) was very clean and felt more like someone's home. We will definitely visit again! Thank you Pat, Linda and all the folks who make Willow Winds wonderful!
A Perfect Spring Getaway
Just like most people have said, Willow Winds is a great place to get away for the weekend. It was our 4th trip to Asheville and we were glad to be going back. Willow Winds provided a nice retreat for our Spring getaway. It is by far the nicest of the all the places we have stayed. The rooms are very comfortable. The bathrooms are very elegant, the rooms are cozy in their decor. They have lots of nice service touches and easy access to everything. Overall, a nice break from city life, and a great place to stay while getting away. We hope to come back soon.
