River Forest: Victorian Mansion
I didn't stay here, although I did have dinner here once. Reviews on the internet are wildly mixed. It is hard to believe that they were all about the same place. We never stayed at the marina either.
The house dates from 1899, when John Aaron Wilkinson, President of J.L. Roper Lumber Company and Vice-President of Norfolk & Southern Railroad, began building the Victorian mansion known today as the River Forest Manor. Their website says:
Italian craftsmen were called in to carve the ornate ceilings, and by 1904, the mansion was complete – with carved oak mantels for each of the eleven fireplaces, sparkling cut glass leaded into windows, crystal chandeliers glittering from the ceilings, tapestry placed above the mahogany wainscoting in the dining room and two baths so large that they included oversized tubs for two. Eight years after the completion of his showplace, Wilkinson married a beautiful New Yorker who shared the house with him for many years.

Thistle Dew B&B: Punny Name
I have not stayed here. However this seems to be the only well known place to stay in town.
Unique Quality: From their website:
"100 year old Queen Anne Victorian home built for the first Mayor of Belhaven. Pat and Bob Holz moved to Belhaven, North Carolina from Alexandria, Virginia and purchased the Thistle Dew Bed and Breakfast in March 2001. Pat is a native "Tar Heel." Bob hails from New York City and speaks French and German.
"..features beaded board ceilings, original crown moldings and trim, plantation shutters, and a Victorian fireplace. The parlor features a TV/VCR for the exclusive use of the guests. Books, games, and magazines are also available for your enjoyment. All rooms have both heat and A/C for your comfort.
"Thistle Dew also features 3 bedrooms, each with private bathroom. All rooms face the water and are decorated with antiques and eclectic works of art.
"The spacious dining room greets you in the morning for a full gourmet breakfast. A butler's pantry and guest refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, bottled water and assorted wines is available for your use at any time. At your request, your dietary needs will be accomodated whenever possible. "

Belhaven Inn: Bed and Breakfast
I have not stayed at this Inn. It appears to have no presence on the internet.
Unique Quality: I took several pictures of this house because they had a whale wind vane on the roof, plus pigeons in the eaves.
