Wachovia Championship

The weather is just perfect and the sparkling water and imported beers are flowing on the Golf course. I just spotted Tiger Woods, too bad I am not a fan. Comfortable golfing shoes and dorkie pants! ; )
There are golfing shops everywhere but the Golfcourse where the PGA was held has a memebership fee of 250K a year!!!
I am sticking to my favorite sport, Extreme Drinking! : P
just joking!
A little farther south
by acemj about Stonecrest Shopping Center
Located in the ritzy Ballantyne area of south Charlotte just past Piper Glen and I-485 on Rea Road, you'll find this expansive strip mall. There is a Harris Teeter grocery store, a larger multiplex cinema (Regal Cinema), a Target, and numerous specialty stores. There's a great toy store here where I've purchased gifts for my nephew. You'll also find some interesting restaurants here including Miro, my favorite local Spanish place.
Fish in tacos?
by b1bob about Cabo Fish Taco
Folks, I don't like fish tacos. In my opinion, fish and tacos are each okay in their own right, but together...not so much! Mark and I were in NoDa and we were trying to eat a snack that would tide us over until supper without dulling the appetite for it. Cabo Fish Taco is in a slot which, judging by the ceiling height and design, was once either a former five-and-dime or a former drug store. Selling fish tacos and Mexican style seafood dishes, it has the feel of a Mexican beach resort. One sign says "Fish Tacos 25 cents". Mark said, "If only that were true." Mark had cabo rolls which consist of shrimp, cheese and aioli (a type of mayonnaise). Not seeing anything on the menu which appealed to me, I only had a glass of water and most of the tortilla chips with an unusual salsa that came free with the meal. The salsa consists of corn, tomatoes, chilies, cilantro and lime juice. The food I had was good, the service was courteous, and professional.
Sushi-on-the Rocks
by etfromnc about Sushi at the Lake
They advertise themselves in the Yellow Pages as "Sushi served in a rock and roll atmosphere" and they are not really at the lake so I cannot help but think of them as Sushi-on-the-rocks. To further confuse the situation, there is no "rock and roll atmosphere." It is more like a sports sushi bar. There are TVs galore, lots of people, and lots of noise. I tend to look for quieter places to eat but once you are seated the festive atmosphere tends to take over and other than having to shout to be heard, the noise becomes much less bothersome. The sushi is generally good. My favorite dish was a grilled (Hibachi-style) salmon steak which was seasoned almost perfectly and served with asparagus but the greatest surprise was the Calamari Salad. I had avoided squid and octopus for 20 years because the last time I had both, while I was living on Crete, it seemed that I had to chew interminably and still had a wad of rubber in my mouth. A member of my group insisted that I try a taste of her Calamari Salad and I loved it.
Discovery Place

Charlotte's Science Museum is a great place to hang out especially if you have kids. They'll love playing with all of the interactive exhibits and you'll love the fact that they're actually learning something.
