Travel Tips for Charlotte

Charlotte Coliseum

by b1bob

At one time, the Charlotte Hornets basketball team played from here. The Arena Football League team from the area, the Carolina Cobras, play here now since the owners of the Hornets, in a huff, moved the team to New Orleans.

Funky Night Life

by b1bob about Have a Nice Day, The Hut, and Bar

This isn't the kind of place either Mark or I would frequent for night life. It is mainly intended for the younger crowd (those just old enough to legally drink alcohol). Mark says this is more a place for folks to, in diplomatic terms, make plans for what to do when they leave there.

Cajun Queen

by DrewV

Cajun Queen
Another worthy restaurant is the Cajun Queen, one of the better Cajun restaurants outside of Louisiana. Featuring live jazz and zydeco, the Queen has blackened fish that will make you sing with joy. And the etoufee est incroyable!

Noodle Sushi Bar

by etfromnc about Sushi 101

When I first entered, I thought the 101 stood for the decibel level. It was loud but very congenial. The waitresses were more than willing to spend time helping me to understand the menu. Not the place for that quiet, romantic dinner but if you are a sushi and sashimi novice, this may be the place to go in Charlotte. Salmon Crispy Maki 101
The crust was crisp, the wasabi was abi, and the salmon still retained its delicate flavor. A delight to the palate.

First Tuesday Concerts

by etfromnc

The first Tuesday of each month during the school year (September through May), Charlotte Chamber Music presents an opportunity for "...Exhilaration in Under an Hour" in uptown Charlotte by sponsoring free 45 minute chamber music concerts at 12:10 and again at
5:30 PM. Free wine and hors d'oeuvres are offered after the 5:30 performance. Last year programs ranged from Beethoven and Baroque to Kenneth Frazelle's "Appalachian Songbook."
Normally, these concerts are presented at St. Peter's Episcopal Church but that church is currently under renovation so this year's sessions are being held at First Presbyterian Church.
