5 hour Lay Over in Charlotte, what to do?
by gripdxd
I have a 5 hour layover in Charlotte, is it worth venturing out into the city centre? Can you get there by bus or public transit? Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You might wish to take a look at the the web site for the Charlotte airport. They have links for the shopping and restaurants at the airport, ground transportation, and things to do in Charlotte. Personally, for that length of time, I'd just hang out at the airport. Gary
Travel Tips for Charlotte
U.N.C.C.

UNCC is Mark's alma mater. Its campus is about 8 miles (5 km.) north of uptown. When it comes to their athletic programme, their teams are simply referred to as Charlotte, but in academic circles it's UNCC. Beyond some typical brick architecture, the campus is right bland in those terms. There are a few statues, some ponds by which to sit and meditate, botanical gardens, and if that's not enough to distract you, the Halton Arena is home to the school's basketball team, not to mention the Barhardt Student Activity Centre.
Lake Norman
by MandaJ320
Lake Norman is a man-made lake to the north of Charlotte. It is surrounded by Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville, Lincolnton, and Denver. Huntersville is great for shopping, and Mooresville is great for race fans. There are a lot of parks around the lake for boating or fishing.

Does the Mafia own this one?
by etfromnc about Wizeguy's
This Ballantyne area eatery has changed names twice in the past five or six years but the food, ambiance, and decor do not seem to have changed at all, but that is okay because all are above average, as are the prices. The staff is very cordial and helpful and the service is generally very good except that the food can come a bit on the slow side, especially when they are even moderately busy. If you are with a crowd and having a bit of a party, that is no problem but I made the mistake of going in one afternoon on the way to another meeting and it seemed like my pizza would never come. My biggest problem with this place is that they seem to be overpriced, but then isn't everything in Ballantyne? Their pizzas are definitely neither delivery nor DeGiorno. They have exquisitely thin crusts. I cannot see how they can get them done without burning the crusts but they manage. My favorite pizza is the pineapple with regular tomato sauce instead of the tomato pesto.
Don't get me wrong. They also have an excellent variety of other dishes.
