Possibly relocating to Charlotte
by tvdandy
I was wondering if I could some feedback on what it is like to live in Charlotte. Is there much to do for a young single person. What areas are there to live for a single professional. I hear uptown is good. What is the crime like. Things of that nature. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There's not much to do but we do have some decent bars and clubs. Book clubs, taostmasters club, gyms etc. I would recommend living either uptown or east blvd dilworth area. Crime rate is not that bad but pretty normal.

Charlotte is a city with heart and soul if you give it a chance...I love that city and I was only there for 3 yrs. I hope you relocate there. Uptown is a great place to live...awsome...if renting and you want a little culture...look at Tryon House...really ungique and a great place to live for a single person. Now, it that is not your taste...4th Ward is great and so is 1st Ward. I live in some Condos on 500 North Davidson Street. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck. A great dentist is Dr. Armstrong...Charlotte dentistry. CharlotteDentistry.com!!!!! Starbucks on East Boulevard is a great place to meet people. Email me if you want to know more.
Travel Tips for Charlotte
Strolling Musicians
by bdbrewer
While we were walking around this area, we noticed they were putting fancy white table cloths on tables and sitting out food and drink (wine). As we left, a couple of musicians were walking up to play for this outside event. Charlotte is a very metropolitan area. Art is prevalent everywhere
Outer Banks
by acemj
The Outer Banks are exactly that- the outermost stretch of land before North Carolina ends and the vast and wild Atlantic Ocean begins. You'll find many unique sights to see in the area including the place where the Wright Brothers flew an airplane for the first time and many beautiful beaches homes and lighthouses.
This is a satellite picture of the area.
fancy Southwestern style...
by MandaJ320 about Cino Grill
This restaurant was colorful in a southwestern style way, with desert blues and pinks in the background. The service was nice and the food was orignal. Also, there's a really nice area outside with a beautiful pond for pictures. :-)
Soul Food
by acemj about Mert's Heart and Soul
If you came to Charlotte for some good old fashioned southern food, then this is the place for you. Mert's is a place to come and relax and eat some feel-good food. The place is decked out with family photos and the owners will always make you feel welcome here. Fried Chicken and Macaroni and Cheese. The collard greens are also good and I like the shrimp and grits.
The average entree is between $7.95 and $10.95, but it's a lot of food!
Perfect for pre-game
by acemj about Presto
If you're headed to a Panther game, this place located near the stadium on the corner or Trade and Graham is perfect. There are two levels with bars on both levels and a great view from the upstairs terrace of the Uptown skyscrapers. After you eat, you can walk a few blocks to the stadium to catch a game. The appetizers are good. Try the Spinach and Artichoke dip which is served with excellent toast. The wings are similar to Buffalo wings, but they more of a bite and a grilled taste as opposed to the traditional Buffalo wings that are served "wetter" with more sauce.
