The Dog House
by acemj
Before the Panthers games, head on over to The Dog House for one of the better pre-game parties in town. Just walk under the bridge (follow Mint St.) from the stadium and you'll run right into it. WFNZ radio (the market's biggest sports talk station) broadcast here on Sunday mornings and there's live music out back and beer inside.

by acemj about The Charlotte Symphony
If you like classical music, come see the Charlotte Symphony. The performances take place at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
In 2003, the musicians were on strike, but that situation has been resolved. People will come dressed very well.
Fond memories
by etfromnc about Beauregards
When I was in high school, one of my first jobs was at an A & P Food Store about a mile south of this location and I bowled at a center just north of here.I do not recall whether it was called Beauregards at the time but there was a restaurant at this location back then and the interior and atmosphere are pretty much as I remember them. Rarely, we would eat lunch there but frequently we would go there after bowling. The food is good but not gourmet and the portions are very generous. Chicken parmesan on pasta with a tomato basil sauce is my favorite and it can easily make two meals. I think that I like it so much because it combinesw several different flavors and textures. The sauce is tasty and well spiced without overwhelming the more subtle tastes of the pasta, chicken, or the cheese.
Honey mustard salad dressing is one of my favorites but I would not recommend that you try it at Beau's.
Best Chili in Town
by acemj about Lupies Cafe
Lupies is a great little joint that is always busy and for good reason. The atmosphere is warm and worn, with friendly servers and an old school feel. The building is old, but cool and the neighborhood itself is a bit rough around the edges. Somehow, this adds to the atmosphere.
Most nights, there will be a line to get in, but I recommend making your way to the front of the line and sitting at "Bongos Bar." It's almost always open and it's located on the lower level (to the right from the front door) so you won't have to wait. The Texas style chili is great, but beware, it's a little hot. They use beer in sauce and it's served with cornbread. Mmmmmm. Perfect for a chilly night (chili night?)
Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Police Headquarters
by b1bob
Charlotte and surrounding Mecklenburg County, North Carolina make up more than a half million people, so a big police force is needed. There are police precincts all over the county, but the headquarters is located just south of Uptown Charlotte. Across from the headquarters is a memorial garden and monument dedicated to all officers who died in the process of enforcing the people's law.
