The one thing that you'll...
by ronald_ann
The one thing that you'll notice about Charlotte is that no one is actually from Charlotte. As previously stated the city is made up of folks from all over the U.S. A great question to start a conversation may be 'So... where are you from?' I bet Charlotte won't be the answer.
Wanna' buy or sell some music?
by acemj about Used Records
There are couple of good places in town to buy or sell music. Ernie's Music in the Arboretum shopping center. You can also try Repo Records on Central Avenue for a good selection of edgy tunes.
UPDATE!!! I got this email from the owner of a new place . . .
"Please note that Ernies Music is now out of business. I own The Record Exchange
which has two locations in Charlotte - One at the former Ernies space at the
Arboretum, and the former Ernies space at Park Road.
We also are on line at www.trexonline.com." Alternative music is usually the strength of these places, but you'll find all kinds of bargains. 30% less than retail is a good ballpark figure.

2 doors from the Diamond Grill
by etfromnc about The Penguin
Another Charlotte institution, The Penguin opened in the 1940s as an ice cream shop. By the 1960s, it had evolved into a diner where beer, soft drinks, and snacks were delivered to your car. I do not know when it happened but when I moved back to Charlotte in 2000, The Penguin was closed. It reopened several years ago with no curb service but it still features beer, soft drinks, burgers, snacks (including fried pickles), and named sandwiches, such as the Tupelo Special, a peanut butter and banana tribute to Elvis. I go there for a good burger but the variety of options which they offer has precluded me from finding a favorite yet.
Visit the boyhood home of Billy Graham
by 807Wheaton
This is a pleasant way to start the tour of the Billy Graham Library. The house reflects the life of Billy's mother, Morrow Graham until her death in 1981. There are lots of pictures of Billy's extended family on the walls and in various places. The home has been moved twice. The first time it was relocated to the now defunct PTL Heritage site. Now it is in it's permanant home at the Billy Graham Library.
