Nice location for central Charlotte

Overall we had a very nice stay here; the front desk folks were especially pleasant and helpful. We were given a room on the concierge floor so we could use the concierge lounge which is on the first floor next to the outdoor pool area and exercise room. This is a very nice arrangement. The breakfast was scrambled eggs, bagels, toast, sausage one day and bacon another morning. Fruit and dry cereal and a variety of muffins were also provided. There is a flat screen TV in there with a nice window view of the pool. Wine and cheese and crackers are offered in the evenings next to the front desk. There is an evening buffet also that is quite good - sliced meats, cheese, spinach quiche, fruit and raw veggies with dip. Also, the concierge offers delicious Starbucks Coffee - good very time!
The room was very clean, had one terry cloth robe, lots of outlets for laptops and other electrical applicances and all the light bulbs worked. There were plenty of fluffy towels and the bath products were the Bath & Body Aromatherapy - they had body wash, shampoo and conditioner, and lotion. The entry floor by the closets was dark stained hard woods - nice touch. The beds had the tiny lights over the headboard which is nice for individual lighting. I did notice the mattress moved whenever my husband rolled over in the night, but the mattress itself was comfortab
Something I noticed was that there didn't ever seem to be much hot water; in fact one morning it never did get warm. I also found it impossible to turn the handle on the tub and shower; my husband had to turn it on for me both times I used it.
We had free parking here and had a room with a view of the parking lot. Not sure there is a room here with an exceptional view. The location is very good for downtown Charlotte activities and there are a lot of business rooms here for conferences, etc.
The room was tidied up by the time we got back in the afternoon.

Unique Quality: I'd say the outdoor pool is a nice centerpiece here; it is nicely decorated and has a good size hot tub.

First class hotel

The Park Hotel is a pretty fancy place. I know that a lot of athletes and celebrities who visit Charlotte stay here. There is a full-service restaurant, excellent meeting facilities and a high level of service. A friend of mine used to work here and she tells me this place is the cream of the crop in the city. There is a courtesy phone at the airport (down at baggage claim) that you can call to make a reservation from, or just use the number below.

Unique Quality: There is also an airport shuttle that will take you to the hotel. If you're worried about how much that costs, then you probably shouldn't consider this hotel, because you'll pay anywhere around $150-$250/night. However, the location, amenities and service are top-notch. They have 24-hour room service, a health club, concierge service among other things.

This Spanish tapas wine bar is located just across the street from the Marriott Charlotte City Center. Good concept, lousy execution. The atmosphere is good, the service slow, and the food extremely expensive and unimpressive. The texture of the paella was terrible and had a taste reminiscent of dishwater. According to the website, this restaurant was the winner of the 2006 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence so maybe it was an off-night, but I don't plan on going back. None to speak of.
