Presidents Day 07

by w3ndes

Also, anything particular about Presidents Day in Charlotte?

Just deciding whether or not to leave that same day to San Francisco or stay an extra day.

Thanks.

RE: Presidents Day 07

Presidents Day is no big deal in the USA. It is a holdiday in name only that gets a mention on a calender, causes poor children to have to learn about the US presidents in school, and gives retail businesses a reason to have a sale. (There are many sales on Presidents Day.) With that in mind, that may be a good day to find a good price on the camera you metioned in your previous post.

Travel Tips for Charlotte

acemj at 1 Charlotte Plaza

by b1bob

Mark gave a great tour of Uptown Charlotte, showing me the transforming architecture of the fourth ward, that of the downtown skyline, and other points of interest throughout this largest city in North Carolina. My favourite part of the tour was The Green.

7th St and Central Ave(between The Plaza & Pecan). These two street are great for novelty shopping, tatoos, coffee shops, and antiques. A retro area considered the 'artsy' district. Hippies, punks, club kids, artist, and everyday people. Come and play 'I Spy'.

Eat in or take some Q home for a great sandwich

by 807Wheaton about The Q Shack

The Q Shack is an excellent place to grab a meal to go or eat in. We bought our "to go" meal buying purchasing hickory smoked pulled pork butt by the pound and added some sides. They have a huge choice of Q, featuring other areas of the U.S. They have chili rubbed beef brisket - popular in Texas. They also have hickory smoked pulled chicken by the pound or sandwiches. Try the hickory smoked pulled pork with their sauce for a great sandwich!

Japanese and Thai

Claimed Pan Asian but only Japanese and Thai

Funky contemporary deco.

The answers for any question to the waitress were “They are all very good!” She knows almost nothing about what in each dish and how each dish was prepared. But she was willing to ask others to get an answer for you. Sushimi combo $21.50, no salad nor soup come with it

A great place to hangout

by etfromnc about York Crossing Cafe

This is one of those neighborhood bar and grill "cafes" where everyone seems to know everyone else, except you on your first visit. Someone will remember you if you go back, however. The food is good but not great but that is usually not your primary reason for going there. It is one of those many places where you probably would not even go in if you just happened to be in the area but a few minutes, or a couple hours, here could be very well invested here, if you just want to hang out and get involved in some pretty interesting conversations, usually about fishing and sometimes about motorcycles. Something on your plate is almost certainly going to be fried, either on the grill or in the deep frier, but they do have vegetables. My favorite meal was a Flounder Plate with (deep fried, of course) flounder, a "to die for" cole slaw, and freshly cooked pinto beans. As usuall, the tea was plentiful and fresh.
