Fayetteville is a small southern town
Fayetteville is a small town despite having a huge military presence. Most of the locals are very courteous and friendly and respond the same. Please remember that there is a town and culture other than the military bases and military personnel who live in Fayetteville. There is so much more to Fayetteville than the military presence.

I lived in and around Fayetteville for about 10 years, mostly with the U.S. Army. "Fayette-Nam" has a bad reputation, but it's slowly outgrowing that. Once you get away from the pawn shops and used car lots, it's really a nice place with anything you'd need. A day trip away from mountains, the beach, bigger cities, it's a nice place to live and visit.
