Earnhardt Jr, here I come!!
I flew to Greensboro, NC last April to watch a Nascar race in Martinsville VA. We stayed in NC and then drove to VA to the race. I have fallen in love with North Carolina. The weather was amazing. When we left Ontario there was snow on the ground. When we reached Greensboro it was 85 degrees.
We flew in a four-seater one engine plane. The pilot was my friend Matt who was nineteen at the time, I was eighteen. It took eight hours to get there. We landed beside Tony Stewarts jetliner where I drooled and looked around hoping to catch a peek of the superstar Nascar driver, but with no luck.
During our stay we drove a LOT, just checking out the condition of cars in wrecking yards and driving around. (No rust! *gasp*)
We drove in the mountains (Which was AMAZING) and went to Walmart where I cannot believe booze and guns are sold! It was also a 24hr Walmart and at 3am there were people with their children in there! It was insane!
Three days in we went to the Nascar race in Martinsville VA. It was only an hour and a half drive to the track (ended up being close to 4 since we were in a traffic jamfor an INSANELY long time)so we listened to The Tragically Hip (All you Canadians know what I'm talking about) while people in the cars beside us looked at us in disgust as we were drowning out their country.
Anyway, finally got into the parking area and went to Candy Land for 3 hours (Where they sell souviniers *sp*) and then it was off to the race. It was pretty uneventful, no exciting crashes or anything.
Flew home the next day and that was my trip.
