Great Little Place on the Beach
Sloane Vacations in Ocean Isle Beach NC has some really terrific beach homes and condos for all price ranges! They are such nice folks to work with as well! I happened to only need a room for two nights and they told me about the Ocean Isle Inn they operate as well as vacation rentals. Great, clean, ocean views! Thanks ya'll for helping me with a vacation on the beach for a VERY affordable price!
A Nice Place for the family.
If you are looking for nice place to take the family for vacation-consider Ocean Isle Inn. Rooms are clean and have a friendly feel. All ocean front rooms are TRULY oceanfront.-You have your own balcony on the beach. Fishing pier is within walking distance (about 100 yards away) that is good for checking out some fishing and also an arcade for the kids. The beach is extra clean and maintained well by the local authorities. The Inn also has a simple and adequate continental breakfast, Ocean Isle itself is a very quiet beach perfect for families with children and teenagers without the headaches of most beaches,The staff exceeds expectations. This hotel is perfect for relaxing and spending quality family time together. I love the uncrowded and unhurried pace!! The are several recommended restuarants located on the mainland less than 5-min from the inn. Calabash is about 10 minutes away. If you insist on the crowds for your night time entertainment, Myrtle Beach is a short 30 minutes away for some fast paced night time fun!! But when you are done with the crowds and ready to relax, return to the Ocean Isle Inn for serenity and a most relaxing time!!!
Our New Favorite Place at the Beach
Talk about exceeding expectations............THANK YOU OCEAN ISLE INN, you are everything you claim to be and more. And our new friends at our new favorite beach destination . Lets start with the room, if the beach were not so friendly and gorgeous we could have spent all day in that bed, big and soooooooo comfy, soooooo tropical. Next, the staff (our new friends) only strangers for the first 30 seconds, thank you Beth, Matthew and the rest of the crew. You have a wonderful staff Lee (GM), whom if I didn't know any better I would swear was a triplet, everywhere insuring a good time was had by all....
See everyone again real soon, love that your are just 2+ hours from Cary.
AGAIN, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

lovely beach views
Driving down the North Carolina coastline without pre-booking a hotel, we turned off the highway at a sign to Ocean Isle Beach. We stopped at the first hotel we saw after crossing over the bridge on to the island, the appropriately-named Ocean Isle Inn. It was late afternoon and luckily they had a room free overlooking the beach. The receptionist gave us the key & let us look at the room to see if we liked it. The sea view from the room made it impossible to turn down. The room was a good size, clean and nicely decorated. The best feature was of course the balcony overlooking the pool, beach and Atlantic Ocean.
There wasn't much on the island in the way of restaurants, seemed to be mostly condos. We found a bar called Salty McDoogle's which did serve basic food (burgers etc), though we were the only people eating. However the staff were very friendly, even asking the live entertainment to be quiet while we ate!
The included breakfast was self-service in the downstairs conference room/kitchen, mainly pre-packed fare.
This hotel is all about location, right on the beach - ideal for a beach holiday.
Not worth the price we paid.
My husband and I made our reservations at the Ocean Isle Inn upon recommendations from friends who lived in the area. Primarily because they were having a party there, and they said it would be convinient for us to stay there. We were given access to their website, which I looked up, and it seemed nice enough. I also read up on past Trip Advisor postings that recommended the Ocean Front rooms, which had balconies, and not the Sound View rooms, which basically looked onto the main road.
We promptly called up and reserved an Ocean Front - Non Smoking Room. When we checked in, we were NOT advised that the room they assigned us was going to be a Smoking room. We had specifically reserved a Non Smoking Ocean Front room, which we paid one nights deposit for (mandatory policy, according to the website). Being that it was in early August, we plunked down $199/day. When we got up to our room and opened the door, we couldn't get over the smell of cigarettes. It smelled like one big dirty ashtray. We called to ask why we were put in this room when we checked in, and they told us they were fully booked and this was the only ocean front room available. Nice of them to warn us before we got to the room. They told us they had Non smoking Sound View rooms, but we had wanted and put down a deposit for an Ocean view room, so we asked if they had anything to take the smell away. The man said he had some spray, which turned out to be an almost empty can of industrial strength nasty room freshener. We tried to make the best of it, and figured we would open the door out to the balcony, but it was so hot and humid, it was useless keeping the door open.
The room itself was nothing to write home about. It felt like we were in a Highway Motor Inn, which was surprising being that their websight touted their new updated furnishings. I will admit the view of the ocean was nice. The Ocean Front rooms overlook the beach, so you have a great view of the ocean, but the room was not constructed to take full advantage of the view. All you had was this small window with old curtains, and a solid wood door which led out to the balcony. If you kept the door open, there was extra light from the balcony, but once you closed the door, the room was dark and dreary. I didn't understand why, with such a beautiful view they didn't put in glass sliding doors, or French type doors to showcase more of the view. Also, with the balconies on that side, why allow smoking in the rooms at all? Why not request that they smoke on the balcony and fine those for not abiding by the rules? The other down side of the room was the noisy air conditioner, which kept going off and on. You couldn't keep a steady stream of air coming through in the A/C mode, so just as you were nodding off to sleep, the A/C would kick in loudly waking you up. Being that the walls b/w the rooms were so thin, you definitely wanted to keep the air on all night to muffle the sounds next door. We, unfortuantely, had a wheezing and coughing man next door, who was obviously chain smoking, as the smell was coming into our room from next door.
When we woke up the next morning, we decided we couldn't sleep in the smoking room another night, so we called and asked to be moved to the Sound View / Non smoking room, but were told they had no rooms anywhere to move us to. Having not slept well at all, and having woken up and feeling like we had smoked a pack of cigarettes, we had no choice but to check out, which was an ordeal in itself. Be warned. When you check in, they make you pay up front for the entire days you reserved. We thought they did that just to have a security deposit, but when we tried to check out and asked them to credit the rest of the days, they refused telling us they would lose money if they did that. I had a hard time believing this being that we were told earlier that they were fully booked. I couldn't believe an over glorified Motel would have this kind of payment practice. With all the money they must snare from other disgruntled guests, you would they they would have updated their rooms.
Bottom line, it was not worth the $199 price. You are basically paying more than half of the price for just the view, because the room is nothing more than a glorified Motel Room. We checked out the next morning and checked into the Winds Ocean Front Inn & Suites 2 miles down, where we were given a lovely smelling Non smoking room. We didn't have an ocean view, but the room was clean, airy and comfortable. Being that most of the time you are away from the room anyway, I would recommend The Winds over the Ocean Isle Inn any day.
Very nice Staff!!
We called the hotel to make a reservation after Labor Day.
They were very nice in that they allowed us to look at several rooms with the help of an attendant, because one of us walks with a crutch.
We needed a handicapped room, non smoking. The significant other wanted an ocean view room.
We couldnt have all three of our desires. Two out of 3 was good enough from the long trip, we did get the ocean view though.
They do have a few handicapped parking spaces and a ramp for wheelchair access, and also an elevator on the 1st Floor.
The parking level is one floor below the 1st Floor.
As for cleanliness, we didnt see any cockroaches.
Nice facility right on the beach
The location is right on the beach which is really nice with the balcony overlooking the ocean. The sunrises and sunsets were very pretty. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were nice but I wish they had a kitchenette since the restaurants on the island were mediocre EXCEPT for the amazing Sugar Shack! My husband grilled up fresh shrimp we bought at a local market and fish that we had caught which was tastier than any meal we ate out. The rooms include wifi, a very small coffee maker, and a microwave. The breakfast was 'eh' - we wound up eating our own breakfast cereals that we brought with us and making our own coffee. But overall for location it is a very nice and relaxing place.
Front desk personnel, maid staff, maintenance were all great people. Maintenance fixed toilet, which I broke handle, immediately. Maid staff quick to assist! Thanks ladies! Room was a nice size and looked right out on the ocean. Pools were lovely. Need the stairs to get in shape but they do have elevators.
Only problem: We stayed on the first floor. Don't do it. People above us walked like cattle until 1 am one night and then 4 am on our last night. Sounded like they weighed a ton! Room was not insulated too well for the above noise or adjoining rooms.
I would stay there again but will go for top floor and an end room. That way only one room next to you. And don't waste your time bidding via e-mail to the hotel. The hotel never returned my offer. Not even to say I'm sorry you are too low.
Other than that, we enjoyed the stay.
