Visited Ocean Isle this weekend for the 1st time. Was very impressed with the beach ...very laid back and quite, The Winds were excellent accomodations...Room 302 has an excellent oceanfront view ...The breakfast in the Garden Room was right on time...I would recommend The Winds highly !!! Will be returning here during peak season to really enjoy the beach.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in room 205. The ocean view was great and the service excellent.
The breakfast included really saved the trouble of leaving to find somewhere to dine. We didn't leave the property the entire weekend.
We loved the quiteness and the under developed area. Not crowed and we felt safe. ( We went home via Myrtle Beach and it was so crowded and over developed.)
We have decided to bring the kids with us in June 2005.
We stayed at The Winds for our honeymoon. The beach was so beautiful and not crowded at all. Hotel was nice, but really needed updating and a complete renovation.
One funny story and a "beware" about housekeeping....since we were on our honeymoon, we were quite busy throughout the days. One day, we hung a "Do not Disturb" on our door and were in the bedroom in the back. All of a sudden, we heard a knock on our door and a yell "Housekeeping". Without a stitch of clothes on, my husband peeked around the corner at the housekeeper and said "No thanks, not right now!"....the housekeeper kept walking back to the bedroom where we were. My husband had to tell her at least three times "NO thanks...not right now!"....
Just returned from a 4 day/3 night vacation at Ocean Isle Beach, NC with my family of 5. We had a one-bedroom suite on the ground floor/oceanfront but no ocean view. Our room had 2 double beds, bunk beds, sleeper sofa, cable TV, refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink, coffee maker, toaster, and plates and utensils.
Everything was wonderful; clean rooms and a beautiful beach. The staff is extremely cheerful and helpful. The free daily hot buffet breakfast served from 6am-10am was definitely a major hit for us. We got to used all 3 pools(2 outdoor, 1 indoor) and enjoyed ourselves…just a word of caution…lots of mosquitoes at night around the pool area.
The hotel was well maintained, but could use some updating. Next time we go(hopefully soon), I would get a second level unit with a view of the ocean.
