Travel Tips for Raleigh
NC State football
by superWade
Tailgating is a must in the autumn. Football season is by far my favorite time of the year in Raleigh. During the season the colleges from the area (NCSU,UNC,Duke and Wake Forest) will get everyone pumped up from the rivalries. Bring sunscreen, beer, coolers, radios, sunglasses, team t-shirts and competitive spirit.
Good place for a date
by superWade about EVOO
Very nice atmosphere coupled with really good food. I've gone here for a couple of dates and I always enjoy it immensely. The thing I dislike is the lack of parking sometimes. But I still highly recommend this place.
fun place to celebrate
by MovingMere about The Melting Pot
The Melting Pot is an overpriced chain restaurant, to be blunt, but it does have its perks.
They have martini specials, which are worth the $5, and the cheese and desserts are the best things they offer. I usually go with a group of girlfriends to split a couple of chocolate fondues - you can split one between 3 people, which makes the price reasonable. With the fondue, you get slices of chocolate and yellow cake, marshmallows, strawberries, and other fruits to dip in the melted chocolate.
I wouldn't recommend going for dinner - the entree fondues are just too expensive and having to cook every piece of your vegetables and meats at the table is a bit of a pain... kind of defeats the purpose of going out.

Raleigh

"Downtown"
We wondered around a bit to find some parking… and without to much trouble succeeded… downtown is in need of some revitalization but it looks like it might be happening… Moore Square is a neat little park… it was filled to the brim with people of all sorts enjoying one of the free concerts… candle box was the feature band… we grabbed a bite to eat right across the way… La Luna… it was ok… our waitress was a doll for the Czech Republic… the ravioli I had was quite tasty but everything else was average… and the hazelnut cake desert was well it left a lot to be desired… we had a good time never the less… we peeked in the explores… there was a little evening gala going on which I secretly wished we could attend… there was a beautiful entrance on the side facing the park that had several of these massive iron gates… looked as if the Imax lay beyond the gates…
loved… walking through the park weaving in and out of the people… there is such a draw a pull from within to feel as if your part of some hussel and bussel… part of something bigger… better enjoyment with the masses… it has its benefits as does… enjoying something independently of others… I like to see what we are all becoming… I love to walk among people or sit a sidewalk table and watch them pass… it’s in some ways like watching a soothing movie… or hearing a melody with a relaxing air to it…
a little like a bad alien updo!
