weather and bugs?

by cruisekat

We have considered relocating to the Raleigh area but would like some information on the climate/weather....do you get all four seasons, and snow too?? How about fire ants...are they there in that area?? Thank you for any info you can provide!

RE: weather and bugs?

The Raleigh - durham area is fantastic. Its young, old, a combination of both and upcoming. you do get most of the seasons and have some great pines! You may get some hurricane action as well. It can be rather humid and hot in the summer. They do get ice in the winter. Its typical east/mid atlantic weather. Sometimes the weather can flucuate throughout a single day. Take a trip to check it out. I have plenty of family and friends there who love it! Its has some great Carolina bbq too:)

Travel Tips for Raleigh

See the modest old state...

by noahsdad

See the modest old state capitol. Visit the state history museum, where you can see quilts and baskets, hear gospel songs from churches around the state, and buy goodies and books from the museum shop. Visit the City Market area, a restored 19th-century warehouse district with fine craft shops, pottery shops, Native American artifact shops, and a variety of restaurants.

Glenwood Ave. area

by TimDaoust

In the past few years or so this area has gone through some revitalization. Mainly, I'm referring to the stretch of Glenwood Ave. from Hillsborough st. up to Peace St. When I was in high school, all I remember being open here was Harry's Guitar shop and a pizza hut. Now that Pizza hut is a Mellow Mushroom PIzza, much better in my opinion, and just about every building has been turned into something, from art galleries to coffee houses and bars. There are loads of restaurants to choose from and I shall take a tour soon to highlight some of the better places. Stay tuned for more.

Frozen Custard like you've never had before

by nyonnetti about Goodberry's Frozen Custard

Goodberry's is the best ice cream (or frozen custard) place in town. We unfortunately live too close and eat here way to often! Make time to try some custard-you won't be disappointed! I love the concretes! I usually do the chocolate custard with m&m's but my husband and daughter love the vanilla with cookies 'n cream. Their are a varieties of toppings and custard flavors.
