The William Thomas House: Nice B&B close to Historic Oakwood and Downtown
We stayed here the first two days after our wedding, because we didn't want to go back to our hovel of an apartment on our wedding night. So to start the honeymoon early, we stayed with these nice folks in an old victorian era house. Jim and Sarah are two very nice people. They are willing to help you find your way around Raleigh and find things to do while here...and she cooks the best scrambled eggs and french toast I have ever had. Check out the website for more info on the history of the house and prices.
The room was comfy and cozy and most of the rooms, in fact, I think all of the rooms have private bathrooms connected to them. They have a grand piano downstairs, a nice front porch and a beautiful back garden with private parking. They even have an extensive video library and a television and VCR in each room so you can watch a movie. They have discounts for business travellers sunday through thursday as well.

Holly Point Campground at Falls Lake: A great escape, just minutes from the city
I camped here twice and just loved staying at this site. It has great tent and camper sites, many with lakeside view. The bath house is clean and spacious. It is quiet and serene and it feels like you have escaped to the mountains even though you are just 10 miles from the city.
The beach access is really nice, clean and quiet. Some of the campsites have some gorgeous views of the lake.

Sheraton Imperial Htl Conf Ctr: In the middle of the wood....
Who said a Sheraton has to be luxurious? This one didn't leave that impression, I can't explain why, it was definitely a decent hotel but nothing really impressing here...
In the middle of the RTP woods, stand this building without too much personality. I was staying at the ground floor, the room was quite spacious but didn't leave any particular memory.
I've had good time at the bar, centrally located, nothing fancy, just functional, perfect to have a few drinks with colleagues!
The breakfast buffet was not so impressive...
I've also been able to enjoy the swimming pool, it was completely deserted and that was a good thing, it was not so big and alone with a colleague, we were able to swim decently, not sure it would have been the case if more people had joined.
In short, I wouldn't come back just to stay here but if I ever come back I wouldn' mind staying here again...
