Travel Tips for Raleigh
Carolina Hurricanes
by TimDaoust
Yes, Raleigh has a hockey team. The Carolina Hurricanes play at the RBC center which is out on Wade Ave. to the west of Raleigh. Unfortunately this season there was a lockout and the Hurricanes have been unable to play. Who knows what the future holds.
The RBC center is also host to many concerts year round as well as Basketball games.
Buy one Get one Free Sushi
by rainravenn about Shiki Sushi
This place is great for great sushi. They have buy one get one free everyday. They are very affordable and delicious. If you're looking for a new sushi place try this one! It is definitely the best sushi especially for their prices. Worth every penny. Try the honeymoon roll it's my favorite. If you're looking for something spicy the marry roll is good, and if you just want your sushi cooked try the bagel roll. This place is somewhat trendy, but people where what ever they want here. Just don't show up in your man tank top and mess shorts.
Pizza
by TimDaoust about Mellow Mushroom
The Mellow Mushroom is a chain that just recently dropped a location here in Raleigh. It is on the corner of Glenwood and Peace St. and is a good place to get a decent and relatively inexpensive pie that is several steps above even the best chain of delivered swill pies that call themselves real pizza. The pizza here is made with high quality ingredients and the end product is top notch. The Raleigh location has TV's and a bar and is a nice place to chill out. Menu items beyond just pizza are hoagies, salads and calzones. I'd try their white pizza if I were you. Also check out the website for more info on the place. There is also a location in Boone and Chapel Hill, NC to name a few.
The Executive Mansion
by Tom_Fields
This is the official residence of North Carolina's governor. It was completed in 1891, using prison labor. With a brick exterior, sandstone trim, and hardwood interior, it is one of the city's most distinctive homes. For information on public tours, go to the web site below.

"Raleigh: One of the South's Best-Kept Secrets"
This is the largest city in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill "triangle". This entire metropolitan area is a powerful magnet for well-to-do, well-educated people, with one of the highest concentrations of PhD's per capita in the entire country.
Raleigh has a fine selection of museums, parks, and cultural activities, which I barely had time to sample. Someday, I hope to get back there. Here are just a few of the things that it has to offer.
