Absolutely Perfect - Look forward to our next visit
The staff at the Sunset Inn were as friendly and professional as they
were accommodating. Our room was very nicely appointed and clean, as was the Inn itself. Unlike most hotels in the area, the room was non-smoking and smelled fresh. We especially liked the screened in balcony and comfortable bed.
We were also pleasantly surprised at the Bed & Breakfast atmosphere with breakfast served in the Inn dining room.
We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Sunset Inn to anyone looking for a nice, clean and relaxing place to stay on a beautiful little island.
We will surely visit them again in the future ... hopefully soon.
We wouldn't stay anywhere else!
My fiance and I spent a weekend here in October and absolutely loved it - we jumped at the opportunity to come again. The staff at the Inn is so friendly and extremely willing to help. The property itself is immaculately kept and the atmosphere is relaxing and so welcoming that you feel like you are at home as soon as you arrive. We look forward to coming back to Sunset Beach soon and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.
best getaway anywhere
The rooms have a beautiful view and the balcony with rocking chairs is so relaxing. The larger rooms have a wonderful jacuzzi tub as well as a porch swing on the balcony. The quaintness and quiet of the island is so peaceful. The breakfasts are delicious and all home made. The beach is so wide and so hard packed that walking is lovely, especially to the Kindred Spirit mailbox and to the jetty. Bicycling on the beach is also great. The restaurants right off the island are also delicious and Calabash is only 5 miles away. A wonderful experience any time of year.
Would not return
We have stayed here twice! Our first visit was lovely. We stayed on the top floor and it was a nice relaxing trip! Our second visit was a disaster! We stayed on the lower floor and had night owls above us. They walked back and forth from their balcony and in their room until 3am each night. On our last night we ended up packing and leaving at 2am because we had to be out in the morning and were not able to sleep! There is absolutely no insulation in the walls/floors! We heard every step and sliding of the balcony door. It was miserable! So if you book a vacation here get the TOP floor! Mgmt was not very helpful about the issue either!
Back for more
Great place, always clean, neat and in good repair. Fabulous view of the marsh between Sunset Island and the ICW. Very romantic, wine and cheese offered by the inn was really great. Food was good, service was excellent. The two person whirlpool tubs are a big reason why we keep coming back.
Love this place
This bed and breakfast is a wonderful place to stay. I am a southerner born and raised and they represent all that is good in the South. The rooms are emaculate, clean, beautiful view and always make you feel you are at home. The breakfast is great with a variety of home made items. Just sitting on your private screened in porch with rocking chairs is worth the price of the room. I go back every chance I get.
Great romantic getaway
My wife and I just returned from a night at the Sunset Inn.
We were both pleased and excited about finding a place so close to home with the comforts of home as well; except at the beach! The room was very clean and quiet. The porch with the swing was exceptional.
Andrea was a gracious host. We were met with a friendly smile and a tour of our accomodations. She offered advice as to which restrurant or other attractions may be on our itinerary as we talked. Later, she kept us informed about an unfortunate break in the cable of the flotating bridge back to the mainland and let us know when it was all clear. This only took a couple of hours.
I highly praise the Sunset Inn. They offer the privacy and closeness to areas of local attraction without the obvious signs of tourism. Does this make sense?!
They offer the breakfast of a classic bed and breakfast with with the comforts of a local inn. The breakfast was outstanding.
Waking to find yourself front row center for the herons breakfast on the saltwater marshes in the new sunlight is in itself worth the price of admission.
You will be impressed.
Charming, relaxing atmosphere
From the moment we arrived, we were very impressed with the inn. It was very clean and quiet, and looks just like the pictures on the web page. We enjoyed the food, the rocking chairs on our back porch, and the nice hospitality from all the inn workers. We felt very comfortable and relaxed the whole three days we stayed there. We plan to recommend it to our friends and will likely return in the future.
Another nice stay at the Sunset
King size beds, no smoking rooms, clean and comfortable. Usually quiet. Heard a garabge truck or some other huge diesel powered vehicle at 4am one morning. We were the only couple there Sunday night. about 6 other couples the rest of the time (3 nights). Breakfast comes too late for us (8:15). They should consider 7:30. Refrigerators in room are noisey. We turn ours off each night and drinks are still cold the next day. Transom lets in too much light. We stuff a pillow with sham in the transom to block out the light. TV's are too small and they should consider larger LCD flat screens in this day and age. No kids under 12 is their policy but there was one in the dinning room on our last morning(?) Rates are currently about $175/night with tax. More than just a couple nights at that rate and you can rent a house down there. We really like staying there for long weekends or just over night but has gotten a little pricey. The time period we were there I could have gotten a 4 bedroom house just down the street for $900 for the week. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They need to upgrade the ammenities to justify the price.
Fabulous relaxing place, walking distance to beach overlooking the intercoastal waterway. The wooden swing brought back childhood memory and what a relaxing cozy room for two.
