Home of Woodrow Wilson, 28th Pres. of the USA
by msbrandysue
Across the street from the Latimer House you'll see a big, beautiful church along with the historical marker. This one is actually pretty interesting. Our 28th President's Dad was the preacher here at the First Presbyterian Church, which is still open to visiters and worshippers.
From the church's website:
Thomas Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States, was a member of this church during the years his father, Dr. Joseph R. Wilson, was Pastor (1874-1885). Woodrow Wilson was a college student at the time; he spent one full year and his vacations in the Manse, which stood at the corner of Fourth and Orange Streets. A copy of a letter he wrote back to the church in 1886 is on display in the room at the Southeast corner of the Sanctuary (the door near the Lectern).
Just thought I'd add this so you'll know what all the fuss is about when passing by the church!
Middle Eastern

The exterior of the establishment looks like a whole in the wall almost. There are some pretty bits of decour but thats it. When you go in.. its still a so-so looking place, but the ceiling is gorgeous. The setting isn't awesome but you can see they've done what they can.

During dinner we were entertained by a fabulous belly dancer and excellent music. She even spoke to us and invited members of the audience to learn and join. Also, in one area of the restaurant there is a hookah bar where one may have ... well... yes... tobacco fun though a large device.

The food was pretty darn good cuisine.
(4 / 5 rating) The hummus and the breads were great. If you want to try hummus this was a pretty good place to start. I had the mediterranian chicken and while being kind of dry, the vegetables were excellent as well as the rice and the amazing sauce that was used.
The best Japanese Express place ever....
by jsimmen about Sumo Express
Very very very good Japanese Express restaurant. I've been to a lot of them and nothing is as good as Sumo Express. It's voted best in the area several times over. Best Value: Hibatchi Filet and Mushrooms with a salad ($9.99).
Cheap but still really good: Hibatchi Steak and Mushrooms ($6.99)
Haunted Pub Crawl
by MovingMere
A warmer alternative to the Ghost Walk during the winter months. Bar hop around Wilmington with a guide who will share spooky stories of each establishment. Drinks are not included in the tour price, but some bars offer a special Haunted Pub beer on tap.
Cost is $15 per adult and reservations are required. The tour begins at 7:30 PM. Nights vary according to season, so it's best to call the number above for the most current schedule. (I think it happens at least every Saturday night).
Hugh Macrae Park
by mocks
The more well known of the city parks is Hugh MacRae. Several events are held here and people sometimes just want to take a little walk around the area and breath the fresh air. Towards the backside of it, you'll find a baseball field where kids and families can do a little catch.
