In December 2004 we decided to do some after Christmas shopping in Fargo. It is always difficult to choose accommodations in Fargo. There are probably 30 or 40 motels covering all ranges of quality.

We always like to get a bargain if possible, and we found a coupon in our Winnipeg newspaper that saved us about $10 or $15 per evening. Sleep Inn is quite adequate. It has a pool and hot tub which we used after long days shopping each evening.

We chose the rooms with two double beds and had a roll-in cot added for our son. The rooms have adequate room, and service was good. The price also includes a continental breakfast of cereal, toast or buns/bagels, juice and coffee -- pretty good.

The quality was good. We will return.

Candlewood Suites Fargo-N. Dakota State Univ.: Great location?...you betcha!    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • Located directly on the NDSU campus. The University even runs its hospitality program from here. Very well maintained property. There's even a cosy Lobby Library to sit, watch and ponder one's trip. Front Desk staff were all natives with excellent city knowledge. Only 10 minute drive to the Downtown Broadway district. My room was the size of a junior suite. There was a very well-equipped kitchen (complete with popcorn provided gratis in the microwave). I liked the clever magnets provided that tell housekeeping to either enter or do not disturb. The dvd is a nice touch as is the hotel rental library and the "Candlewood Closet" that has an honor system for guests to select and record their own charges for a great selection of snacks and sundries. Only a 5 minute drive to the Airport from here (I stayed on my last night before an early morning flight). I am a hotel professional and I recommend this place highly.

Complimentary business center and workout fitness facility. Warm and inviting Lobby Library. Immaculate & large rooms. Knowledgeable Front Desk staff.

Holiday Inn Fargo (3803 13 Ave South ): For those with sufficient...    Check Rates

  • For those with sufficient funds, I have found the Holiday Inn to be the most interesting place. It is in the southwest part of Fargo, where the mall and most of the more interesting restaurants are. Within a short drive is a Barnes and Noble, an Indian and Mexican restaurant of adequate quality, and the very servicable West Acres Mall. Don't forget the blackjack!

Indoor pool, blackjack, gym, across the street from West Acres mall.

Hotel Donaldson: Haute couture on the frozen tundra    Check Rates
I haven't stayed there as I live in town. It is Fargo's first boutique hotel, right downtown on Broadway. The rooms are garnished with art from local craftsmen. The downtown is in a state of permanent redevelopment, but this time for sure!

Actually, downtown Fargo is actually developing nicely, with several nice places to eat within a few blocks of the Hotel Donaldson. This is good because in the winter a few blocks is plenty.

Very pleasant restaurant and bar downstairs, with nice but expensive martinis.

Rumor has it there is a place to catch some rays on the roof, during Fargo's short but very nice summers.

Radisson Hotel Fargo: would not recomend    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • We've stayed at Radisson Hotels all over the country, mostly for business. This was by far the worst. Needs to be updated- with some taste.
Did not care for how the management ran the place, and treated the employees. However most of the employees were very friendly and helpful, just don't ask management anything- they are too busy.
For our next stay we will most likely stay elsewhere. There are better Hotels for the money in Fargo.

Radisson Hotel Fargo: Business address for those visiting Fargo    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • My last stay was in 2000. Think big, downtown, a bit on the sterile side. It is an easy walk from Meritcare, the 600-pound gorilla of Fargo medicine and the economic machine that is the city's biggest employer. It is very nice to stay there, I have no complaints except that it looks like a whole lot of other downtown "nicest place in town" hotels in other cities.

Incredible views that go on forever over the prairies.

Convenient to all the downtown businesses.

    A very nice restaurant.

    Hotel Donaldson: Fargo's Finest Hotel
  • Satisfaction:
  • This botique Hotel rivals most hotels in urban cities. I am the newest Consultant for a software company, and as such was the lucky recipient of 5 weeks in Fargo, ND. After the first 2 weeks at "the usual" hotel, I discovered Hotel Donaldson. The people who work there are genuinely concerned with making you feel comfortable. They're young and engaging, and the best hotel staff I've ever met. The Hotel spares no expense in amenities. I stay in hotels every week, and this one is still number one.

There are many, so please bear with me... Every room has heated tile floors in the bathroom, Bose CD players, flat panel LCD televisions, luxurious bedding, Aveda bathroom products, and adjustable halogen track lighting. Each of the seventeen rooms has artwork from a different artist, rotating flowers (they move them between rooms during your stay), turn down service, and wood viga cielings. The lounge is top notch, swank, and the bar staff are friendly. If you can't stay in the hotel, at least treat yourself to a few drinks there. The food at "Untitled" is delicious and prepared well.

Nestled in a quiet area of Northwestern Minnesota is a wonderful campground full of all kinds of local activities, fishing and just plain peace and quite. This place has been around for over 50yrs now and is near and dear to me since it is owned and operated by my grandmother!

The resort is complete with 6 furnished deluxe cabins (some up to 10 people) along with a deluxe lodge for larger groups. There is a pool and 25 campsites that allow you to get back to nature.
